hey trivium, i just want to say, i fucking love the album Acendancy, it fucking kicks so much ass. it has power, style and you guys' guitar playing is secend to none. but....
i will admit, i couldnt wait to get "the crusade" so a friend downloaded it for me. i was planning on buying the album anyways so i figured it wouldnt hurt.
but this album, i must say...well...sucks. you guys sound like you are trying to be metallica. wtf! matt sings like, exactly like hetfield. i know in interviews he said he wasnt gunna scream, but to bite off hetfields vocals like that, to the T is rediculous. the riffs dont have the power and sickness that acendancy has... did you guys not try? i read in guitar world you guys were gunna make a "guitar hero" type of album. these riffs sound outdated, bad. and the solos...sound like you guys just jerk off all over the place and just very linear scale runs with out any taste, all flash (but there is one song where the leads remind me of Dimebag) come on! i know you guys can do way better than this, you are better than this. i cant even explain how dissapointed i am! really! i am a guitar player myself, and have been playing for 13 years. and in a band. we play pretty comlicated music, sometimes extremely complicated, and we (well, me and our bass player) look at acendancy as inspiration. but we gave crusade a spin and were fucking shocked. im not saying we are better than you...(well patrik, our 'main' lead solo player fucking blows you guys away, i must say!) but sure as hell are trying! rofl!
but i do like the last song! exept during the 4th or 5th riff where you guys do that acending pedal tone riff with those kinda rediculous high melody notes
i know a lot of people are gunna read this and ream me (flame on!) but i just had to get this out. i know a lot of metal purists and musicians feel the same way as we do. well, lator!

for the record, im 23yo. yes music is about having fun, the main reason i love it so much, music consumes my whole life, without it i would be nothing....i i realized a lot of people post a lot of posts like this one, this was my first post here, i just signed up to post this msg. rofl
i just had to voice my opinon (like it counts anyways! lol!) im just saying, matt and corey said in many interviews that this cd was gunna be insane guitar-wise, and they didnt really play-up to what they said! especially with tthe leads. and as a serious guitar player, the leads are important to me, and a lot of other people too. they were just, ehhh. you dont hear meshuggah saying how crazy thier next cd is gunna be, or how complicated it is (but oh, it is). but i did like you bass playin tho. honestly i think your bass playing and the drums are the best part of the album. especially the title track, you take a complete left turn from what the guitars are doing in some parts, makes it more interesting to listen to
