Bands you're retardedly obsessed with
September 16, 2009 1:58:08 AM UTC Post #1

I think everyone has a band that as soon as they see a release by them, they just have to snap it up. On a lesser scale I'm like that with The Axis of Perdition (owning everything including the 20 copy demo CDr), but the band that takes the cake is Khanate.

Here's what I have
Pics will come later/probably/maybe not.

It's Cold When Birds Fall From the Sky (Live, ltd. 500)
Clean Hands Go Foul
Vinyl
Khanate (Black, ltd. 900)

So, are there any bands where you've spent stupid amounts for releases you already have? Or am I just a prick?

i obssess with bands in the "ill listen to them non stop" way, im not the kind of person to buy the same album three different times just to say i have a limited edition, or for one or two extra songs.

Cannibal Corpse.
But everyone knew that already.

Cool thread. I would say that though, as I see myself as a bit of an (amateur) collector
The thing is, the bands I like to collect are usually quite popular bands, who were releasing things back their heyday, which makes it difficult to collect EVERYTHING. Unless you're rich, which unfortunately I'm not.
Anyway! Between Ellie and myself we have a pretty beasty My Dying Bride collection..

..it still needs a lot of work (money) putting into it. There's a lot of items we'd really like to get our hands on, and hopefully will one day.
In terms of my own personal collections, my favourite would probably be Dissection, though again, I don't own EVERYTHING

I also have three shirts which aren't in the photo. Two of which are from "The Last European Concert"

I dont tend to buy multiple copies of things, but Opeth are probably the band I own the most things of in that regard.
Or Suffocation.

I will seriously do anything to see rage against the machine play live again (spent hundreds last summer doing just that ) and I'm in the process of buying anything that they'll sell out to put their name on, and I've probably payed similarly stupid amounts to fund my metallica obsession (non of the shite bob cock stuff though), but I barely even listen to either of those bands at the moment. They just mean a lot to me as my introduction to metal. That, and they fucking rule!
Aside from them I have no retardedly unhealthy obsessions. I'll pay stupid amounts for stuff from bands that I want, but that's just because I have the money and I'm stupid

Nice!
*searches for Dissection vinyls on ebay*

August 14, 2009 3:36:24 PM UTC Post #9

If you're seriously interested in getting some Dissection vinyl you'll find The Somberlain, Storm of the Light's Bane, Live Legacy and Reinkaos relatively easy (the double LP versions of the studio albums are re-releases) on eBay, if you're after the Into Infinite Obscurity 7" I have there, then good luck! Same goes for the signed/hand numbered special edition of Reinkaos.. They're pretty rare now as far as I'm aware.

August 14, 2009 3:50:00 PM UTC Post #10

Well I'm not a huge Dissection fan so I'll leave the rare stuff to you. I think I'll be (very) happy with Storm of the Lights Bane for now - I have to admit the fact that it has the coolest cover is my main reason for picking that one; the fact that it is my favorite is just a happy coincidence
