Ok, seeing as ive had alot of discussion about this amongst my friends i thought id have one here too.
Ok, while i love both albums i lean more towards City Of Evil because its more old school and thrashy, and alot of the guitar work is fucking amazing. Now while saying this ill probably get alot of crap for it but its just an opinion. I think that while City Of Evil is just a bit better in my view i could say that the reason would be because ive listened to the album alot more then i have Ascendancy.
Vocally? Its pretty even for me. I like both vocal styles and both fit the music well.
I think what makes me lean towards City Of Evil is that i think there are more stand out tracks on it over Ascendancy.

Im giving up being an A7x fan... only a few songs still appeal to me.. and they appear on Waking the Fallen.

Yeah CoF has a more old skool edge to it... but tbh it doesnt have that energy for me.
Ascendancy kicked me in the teeth when I first heard it... it was that good.. (not as good as Ember to Inferno though :wink: )
Its crap... I dont like them anymore. (A7x that is)
For one... M.Shadows while he has an interesting voice and yes Zacky and Syn are ok guitarists...they are over rated and trying to be the next GNR... good for them.
I'd rather listen to the next Metallica.... Trivium! 8)

Interesting comments, ok guitarists? thats going a bit far lol, i agree on one thing, Ember To Inferno is better then Ascendancy, ETI is fucking ace. I dont think slapping around the term "next Metallica" or "next Guns N Roses" is good though, Trivium are TRIVIUM. Not Metallica 8). The guitar work on City Of Evil is alot more technical then Ascendancy, and no im not an Avenged "fanboy", im just saying my opinions.

ahhhhh i hate A7X so much it hurts , yes the guitar work on COE is impressive but my jesus could that mans voals be more whiney and annoying ( shadows that is )
For me there is no competition ,ETI and Ascendancy are explosive so much energy and heart , City of evil for me is too manufactured and i know i have already said it but those vocals ARGHHHHHHHHH

A7X are sop bad it hurts. You should be shot down for even comparing them to Trivium.
1. What a gimp M shadows is, with his hair slicked back and his big sun glasses. and as for the vocals, im not 100% sure what song its on but in one he sings "I cant trust anyone" and it sounds so shit and whiny it makes e physically sick.
2. What sort of names are Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance? its like "oh we are big hard rock stars with cool names" what a bunch of retarded little posers.
Anyhow, i dont even see A7X as a metal band, Trivium are so much better than them as well, the end!

No no, itrs not the fact that they have stage names, it's the fact that their stage names are so immature and immitational metal, i mean "Zacky"?, compare that to a name such as Count Grischnack (sp) and you'll see what i mean. and as for comparing them to trivium, i didnt suggest that trivium were god, merely that A7X are bollocks compared to them and one band is metal, the other isnt.

I dont see how they arent metal, i bet most people are going to say there rock/pop or something. Just because Bat Country happens to be insanely catchy and popular amongst 12 year old kids, doesnt mean that they should be pigeonholed into a genre. I wouldnt say Trivium are metal-core because of Dying In Your Arms, or go as far as some people have said and said that it was "emo".
