For me, the coolest metal scene was probably the late 80's and early 90's death/thrash metal scene (Mostly from Florida).







I might've missed some bands for now.

i actually do like arch enemy i just think of them as carcass 2 Of course AE sounds similar to Carcass, it's Michael Amott's old band!. I only find new In Flames boring, I still think the older stuff is still awesome. But yeah haven't heard too much 'recent' melodeath stuff that's came out recently that's really blown my socks off like the older stuff, I thought Amon's new album was ok, and I start listening to this band last week called The Absence that's about it really, oh and I'm hanging out for DT's new album of course
I'm actually started to get a bit more into death metal, I never really gave it a chance. I've recently discovered Necrophagist and I think they fucking rock! Muhammad is a awesome player. And I got ahold of Cannibal Corpse's Vile but I havent gave it a proper listen yet. Can anyone recommend me some death metal that's similar to Necrophagist and CC that I might like?

Tottaly agree. I actually started on heavier stuff then found my way to more Melodic Death.. Like you said, its a good genre. Im not a big fan but i enjoy listening to a few bands now and again.

I like Melodic death metal. always have. In Flames, Soilwork, Hypocrisy, Dark Tranquility. etc. I think its a good genre. Its easier for people, who are new to metal, to listen to. then they can move onto heavier, more "brutal" stuff.
