Could Trivium be The next maiden or priest?
September 16, 2009 1:56:05 AM UTC Post #1

trivium have already made a bloody brilliant start into metal music...
But can they keep it up?
Bands like maiden n priest have been playin for years and have released a silly amount of albums...
But some metal bands start of awesome, then get really conformed and loose their edge...
I reckon if trivium kept it up they could evolve into the next legendary metal band,
What do you guys reckon?

Where is the option that says `no`?

I don't think Trivium can actually be compared to Maiden or Priest.
1) They are not British
2) They have no mainstream appeal at all.
3) They just won't
Looking at my second point, do you really expect 'The Crusade' to do a 'Number of the Beast' and hit number one in the album charts? There is no chance of that happening. Look at the charts, name a metal band in the top 40. The only remotely decent stuff to get top 40 is by Linkin Park, and I don't even like them anymore. MCR reach top 40 because they are emo, which has a much wider appeal. Radio stations are too scared to play Metal incase they recieve complaints and there just isn't a large enough audience to advertise to. Metallica are still popular because they were so good in the past, when people weren't scared of Metal so much and they now make radio-friendly music. Maiden are still popular for the same reason as Metallica, not radio friendliness though.
After saying that, Trivium are more like Maiden because they deal with darker subjects, so I chose the Maiden option although both fundementaly incorrect.

I say Trivium should just focus on being Trivium, only time will tell what happens to them. They might get bored of it all in 5 years or they may just tough it out and stay for 30 either way I am putting my money on them having a fucking great time doing what they want for awhile regardless of where it goes.

Mudvaynes Lost and Found debuted at No.2 on the charts. Shaddows Falls The War Within entered the charts at 18. But i agree with you on all the other stuff. The possibilitys of the Crusade being that good are close to none but anythings possible.

Word.
I don't know what's with all the comparing.Trivium's Trivium. They're awesome, and they're not Iron Maiden or anybody else. I say let them have fun with it and let the fans join in too without worrying about who they're like.

No, definitely not.

I fail to see how they can be compared to those bands, and it's comparing them to metallica that makes me chuckle.

Hopefully not..
One of the reasons I like trivium, is becuase of their originiallity, "wtf" I hear you say?
Put it like this... What other bands do trivium sound like? Megadeth? Metallica?
No.. I dont think so, Okay, they're heavily influenced by both of those bands take "holy wars" by Megadeth for example, easily compared with Like Light to flies..
I dont want Trivium to ease away from their style. Trivium should make music that they blows people away, and that we love. I wouldn't like it if Trivium started making music that is the same as everyone else.
Im adding this too : Dont you just fucking hate it when people call Trivium "emo" I mean.. How musically undereducated can someone get? Sweet jesus.
