Detonation could be soo good

The "and now the ground we called our home"-part is so fuckin good! Makes me feel happy But the first half is so shitty in my opinion, and the first and second half sounds like to different songs to me.. So I think if they buildt out the second part, Detonation could be the best Trivium songs. But no..
Anyone agree?

when i first heard the recording of the first time they played it at donnington it sounded so fucking badass. only because it was played faster. much faster than on the record. when i first heard the recording for the cd i was like "wtf is this? this sucks" it somehow sounded artificial. why would they slow it down on the record when it sounds so much more badass faster? i have similar arguments for a bunch of songs on the crusade.

Good song. Not gonna be changed. First half is awesome. I can put my money where my mouth is and say it wont be changed because its awesome how it is.
And infact at Download they didnt play it much faster than on the record. Comparring the two, they are pretty similar apart from at Donnington it was still at early stages and made better for the record.

I remember when they played it for the first time; Rock Am Ring 2006. I didn't like the first half very much either, but I loved the last part of the song. But it grew on me, now I really love the whole song

I completely disagree, I think the first half is brilliant.. thrashy and heavy make it brilliant.. second half is ok I suppose.

^ I agree. The first half is strong and pretty unique. The second half is typical Trivium radio rock, scene stuff. The solo's are weak too, it sounds like Heafy just learnt how to sweep-pick.

I love the second half, I've always felt that Detonation takes some time to "warm up" because it gets better as it goes along.

Don't really like the first half of it all that much until the breakdown bit

Not arguing, but at least Heafy can sweep pick and use it in a solo...I've heard a lot worse sweepers out there, and better ones too...But heck, he can do it better than I can, lol

Fuck yeah, Matt and Corey are both very talented guitarists. You only need to listen to the guitars on 'In The Fire' from the Roadrunner United album to understand that..
Of course there are better guitarists out there, like you said. I'm hoping the guys really step up their playing a gear or three on Shogun though..
