Many bands take new directions and the fans aren't happy with the outcome....but i am pleased to say that most of the feedback for The Crusade has been positive.  
If you listen to it more you'll realise that they've adapted that style into their own music....if you don't see that after a few listens then i don't know what to say.
ok, I think I know why my opinion is so much different than yours. My style of music is the kind that screams, I'm also in that kind of band myself, and I'm guessing It's not your kind of music. Like you said, alot of times fans aren't happy when bands change and I think fans of screaming music in general are the ones that aren't happy, and now Trivium stands out to a different fan base, I don't think that this is they're own style of music that they've adapted into, but i don't know..........

I do like that style of music.....
But I think Trivium have made a good decision to sound different to the other metal bands we hear today.
I am in a band too and our vocalist has decided to sing aggressively instead of mixing screaming and normal singing.

I guess I can see your point, I would like to hear some more metal bands that sing instead of scream, but I don't think Trivium's doing all that great at it, so I'll just do what GREGDOUT said earlier and stop listening to the album.

i think you should give it a few listens first, because there are lots of people who will not like it at first but once they are used to it realise that is amazing

THEY DON'T SOUND METALLICA AT ALL PERIOD END OF STORY!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY!!!! I am probably one of the biggest Metallica fans out there and everyone who says that they sound Metallica is fucking off their nut. Metallica hasn't written any super good songs since 1991. There is a huge difference between trivium and metallica. If metallica still wrote shit like this they would have a fuck load more fans. So until Metallica goes back to drinking and being 20 years old again I don't want to hear another Metallica comparisson. Matt doesn't sound in the slightest of Hetfield. He sounds like Matt *fuck you up and then eat your soul* Heafy. Next thing your going to say is that Corey or Paolo sounds like Kirk and Rob when they sing. Its that fucking ridiculous.
