After hearing Sonata Arctica's butchering of "I Want Out," I don't think I planned on listening to any of their songs ever again.

I don't really like this either, the vocals don't work.

The softer parts are ok, apart from "Now he's gone" line.
The heavy bits aren't heavy anymore: the "Now I will just say goodbye" line is utterly shite.
And the solo is just "oooooo-ooooo-ooooo"
What a pointless cover.
EDIT: They trashed 'I Want Out' as well. :x

Sonata Arctica kicks ass in my book.

Covers are supposed to be different. What's the point in recording the sam song again if you're not going to add your own twist. Exactly why Trivum's cover of master of Puppets was lame. Sure it was good, but it's no different from the original, and I would rather listen to the original.
Sonata's covers aren't amazing, but they're still an awesome band in my book too.

the singings allright, but the rest of the playing is great. they added a few of their own things, and the lead playing puts ammet to shame. not a great feat, but still.

i like this cover, Sonata kick ass and i find this cover superior to the Metallica original.
