i cant stand most Ensiferum songs...and i like folk music

Haha, i don't really see Ensiferum as folk metal though really... A few songs have folk influences but they're more or less just standard Viking/Pagan metal.

when i say folkloric music i mean all kinds, viking and pagan included
I dk though, i like some songs on the first album, but after that everything ive heard from them was pretty boring.

Haha, but if you put it that way, even rap music is folk music

Folk Rap... quick, someone copy right that idea. Might be the next big thing!

If you want to get anal with it, yes, haha
but Folk to me represents an old folkloric style of music of a certain country/region.

New Ensiferum doesn't interest me. I used to really enjoy their first two releases, but to be honest I can't remember the last time I listened to them now. They're a band who, in recent times, have become rather 'out of favour' with me.. Especially since Jari left, and Petri joined. (Who I don't think much of) I bought their Dragonheads EP, and thought it was dull. I also bought Victory Songs, hoping for a pleasant suprise, but I remember being severely let down. Especially by the guitar work. I suppose that's part of why I've lost interest in them.

Ah, i personally enjoyed Victory Songs, sure it was different, but it had gone in a direction which i also liked.
You're right about Jari being better than Petri though, i guess without Jari leaving Ensiferum there'd be no Wintersun though!

March 27, 2009 8:08:40 AM UTC Post #9

Well there kind of is no Wintersun at the moment, given that it's taking him so long to finish the album and he's pulling out of gigs in the meantime

March 28, 2009 1:34:14 AM UTC Post #10

Wintersun is dead to me! They'll never play a fuckin' show or release another album. If they do, I highly doubt I'll give it much of a chance after all the b.s. and waiting.
