QUOTE(angry_again_666 @ Oct 15 2007, 04:34 AM) After you have followed both steps your guitar will now have the same first 6 notes of what a 7 string guitar.
Not Exactly your B string would need to be tuned to a G.
Your just tuning your guitar to a baritone guitar,
In which these are what Baritone guitars are used for.

If i tune it to a G which i have it just sounds fucked up. This little tutorial is not a solution to playing 7 strings songs it just allows you to play them and have a bit of fun. Your comment was a bit stupid (Your just tuning your guitar to a baritone guitar, In which these are what Baritone guitars are used for.) Rather then buying one i'm just tuning it to an useable tuning your just trying to be funny i guess. I write this topic just to help a few people out and i get comment like that.

I didn't mean to sound like a douche.

I just did not understand your comment you where saying that i was tuning to a baritone guitar kinda impliying i should get one when that would just be defeating the object of this topic lol

your tuning is incorrect
you would go
B E A D G B
and than if you had a seven a top E would be on that

No one is understanding me... follow my steps but then tune the 2nd string to g and you will see why i've put the F#
I'm not a total daranged fucker you know.

Here is how the Pentatonic scale would sound with the b sting tuned to G

And here is how it would sound with the F#

So now this should allow people to understand where i'm coming from and why i did this. I would of recorded clips but my guitars now back in standard tuing so.

your pentatonic shape would be different for this tuning. it would not be the same shape to stay as a pentatonic. however, thats how it works on a seven string

Just buy a 7 string

This was just a little tutorial on how to play a few songs if you can't afford a 7 string guitar. I guess this just prooves most people here are acully assholes.
