Favorite Trivium to perform!
September 16, 2009 1:56:59 AM UTC Post #1

hey peoples, I was just brushing off my guitar today after a tiny break and whipped out some metal and got to thinking, Trivium is hella fun to play! at least I think so. I really enjoy playing their riffs, and attempting their solos (Damn you corey/Matt!).
Soo, I was wondering, what do all you budding(or experienced) musicians enjoy playing as far as the Trivium setlist goes? It could be an individual song, or even an entire list!
Doesn't just have to be on guitar, could be drums, bass, anything.
I may as well get the ball rolling...
I really enjoy playing ascendancy, I ACTUALLY know the solos for that one and really enjoy the bridge "ASCEND ABOVE THE ASHES"
part. I really love getting into that on my flying V.
I also really enjoy playing the deceived, simply because I just love the melody of the song so much, and though I don't know the solos (too lazy to learn), I improv and sometimes it sounds good sometimes it doesn't, but I still love jamming to it!
Anywhoo, your thoughts, your thoughts!

Wow. Reading some of your replies makes me feel like I need way more practice.
There are quite a few great musicians around here it would seem! This post probably would have been better suited for the "musician" forum but eh, it has more to do with trivium I think, what songs you enjoy from an instrumental standpoint.
Holy f*@& terry, that's insanity! I know that many metallica songs but that's because they're my favorite band(along with trivium).
I'm sort of intimidated to learn their solos, I mean like I said I learned Ascendancy ones, and I can also play Rain's lead but I've had real trouble with Martyr and Gunshot, as well as every other one lol.
I know this is kind of off-topic but for someone who REALLY wants to be a lead guitarist, any ideas on how to work up to Corey's and Matt's solos? as of right now I can play lead guitar on songs like Battery(Metallica), Stricken(Disturbed) and Re-align(Godsmack) but the Trivium stuff still seems beyond me.

entrance of the conflagration is good ole' fun. And I learned drowned and torn asunder recently, that's good too, solo wasn't too difficult. Pull harder's fun to play as well, especially the intro.

I enjoy playing all of them, but turning points are Gunshot, Entrance (especially the middle part before/during the solo), Detonation, If I could Collapse the Masses, Drowned and Torn Asunder. There are just a handful of trivium songs I still have yet to learn: The Storm, Sworn, Demon, And Sadness Will Sear, Becoming the Dragon, This World Can't Tear us Apart, Contempt Breeds Contamination, The Rising, The Crusade. And since I'm a vocalist, I play Matt's parts and sing.
Anyone who would like to tab the 3 demo songs I don't know are more than welcome to tab them for me. =D

Kafu,
You sent me a message about wanting a tab for the ascendancy solo, I tried to send you a direct reply but the server's being a dick so I'll just post a direct one here.
I can do ya one better man,
I got the tab for the solo using a program called Power Tab Editor, and here's the direct link to the tab itself.
http://www.powertabs.net/artist.php?param=...2782,100;page,0
If you're not familiar with the tab use the link at the website's homepage and download/install it, it's an awesome program for guitar tabs and whatnot.
Note: You may have to get an account for
the site in order to download stuff, but it's not hard.
