Finland School Shooting
September 16, 2009 1:57:54 AM UTC Post #1

Police say they have disarmed and arrested a gunman who went on a rampage inside a Finnish school.
"I just heard from the police radio that the shooter has been caught. He no longer has a gun," said a police spokesman in the southwestern Finnish town of Kauhajoki.
Police feared several casualties.
Superintendent Jussi Muotio of the Kauhajoki police said the incident was over and police did not know if anyone had been killed. He declined to give more details.
Media reports said the shootings began just before 11am (1800 AEST) and initial reports suggested that the suspect was a 20-year-old student.
There were some 200 students in the building at the trade school in Kauhajoki, western Finland, where the shooting was reported, public broadcaster YLE said.
A school teacher was quoted as telling YLE that several students had been hit but had no details of their injuries.
Police ordered students to evacuate the school.
In November 2007, a Finnish high school student killed eight people in a school shooting before killing himself.
The November shooting at Jokela, 60km north of Helsinki, triggered a series of threats against schools in Finland and its Nordic neighbours.

Thoughts? This is fucken fucked up. I was having some food and watching TV and stumble across that. It's crazy...this place is soon like fucking USA.
Also, i don't live far from Kauhajoki. Not far at all...
I have heard there are several dead...(might be but was not confirmed.)
EDIT: 9 are dead and all are suspected to be students.
I feel really bad for the victims families right now. Shit...i hate when stuff like this happens.

Fuck! Finland is not one of them places you expect something like this to happen in!
RIP to anyone who died!

Wasn't there another school shooting in Finland last year?
I hope for the sake of the country they are just two isolated incidents and not part of some larger trend that's developing.

I highly doubt it. It seems it was highly similar to the incident in 2007.
This shit is insane...

Basically a copycat killer, posted similiar yotube videos, pics and a manifest online before he did the shootings. The police actually had him in for questions yesterday because of earlier things he had posted online but saw no reason to take away his gun or hold him after they talked with him....
R.I.P to the 10 people that died.

I watched the videos today. And IMO that kind of judgement is flawed, they should have atleast taken his gun from him. Someone shooting a gun and then obviously saying "YOU'RE NEXT!" is a threat. Someone making youtube videos and threatening to kill people isn't right even though you got a permit for your gun.

That's really fucked up.. I hate it when people do shit like this.

Im so desensitized to school shootings its unbelievable
the issue is they have been around since like the 70s now (maybe 80s), and to me it hardly seems as if theres much time between them
this shit is not cool, and is entirely wrong, but its no longer a shock
maybe if the killers realised that people actually didnt care as much as they did they might find less reason to do these things???
