That is aweful what happened. that shits just not usupposed go to down ay... I was watching the news this morning and seen another report on it. I didnt know much about it before watching, but i got the riff of it all after the report... The girl reading, said something along the lines of this "hearing from sources on the internet, in his usual chat room, he apparently listened to Heavy metal music and liked horror movies. Other than that, there was no sign that anything was wrong, and what could have led him to do such a thing" now that... that just pisses me off... Its bad enough something like this happens. They (they being those people that make the rules/read the news/and think they make all the decisions) dont have to go and bag something else. I can't sympathize for people/groups who think they are right to find something to blame. Its like if they dont agree with it, then its wrong. I dont really care, but would anyone here happen to listen to Heavy Metal? ... and/or watch Horrors? I like some heavy metal i even have all the rammstein. im sorry if i took the... 'zing' outta this thread. But i just had to get that out.

People will always try and find a scapegoat to blame for anything bad that happens. Music taste doesn't make killers, circumstances of life do!

QUOTE(tiberiummetalhead @ Sep 24 2008, 12:06 AM) the issue is they have been around since like the 70s now (maybe 80s), and to me it hardly seems as if theres much time between them this shit is not cool, and is entirely wrong, but its no longer a shock Yes, but I thought they were largely confined to the US? I'm personally shocked to see it happen in Europe as they seem to be getting more common. I suppose that it's the media attention that they receive worldwide that has lead to them spreading. After all, they are just a means of attention seeking, all be it a very violent and suicidal one? I personally think that the only way to stop, or at least make them less common, is to lower their media profile.

Not true; gun rampages have happened on several occasions in the UK, Dunblane and Hungerford being only two examples. You only hear about the American ones on the news, because the media coverage is better. In places like the Far East, this kind of stuff is scarily commonplace. Theres no one specific reason why it happens. For people in Finland and northern parts of the North American continent, the climate can make life harsh, and kids ont see as much daylight as some of us fortunately do. The inherently inhospitable environment means, particularly in less built up communities, vulnerable and impressionable people can be found indoors, leading an existence cut off from alot of people. Access to a potential clusterfuck of information on the internet and media, when given no context from prolonged social interaction with a wide group of peers is dangerous, because if you dont have a very strong moral compass its easy to see sites like LiveLeak or NothingToxic as glorifying death and violence. Lax gun control in these kinds of places where having firearms for both home protection and sport hunting is commonplace is probably the main factor here, and its clear to see the true cost of "liberty" when your gun rack misses a few pieces, and a bedroom of your home misses a son, because one day he couldnt take whatever problem he thought he had in his life, went into school, slaughtered his classmates and teachers before turning your "constitutional privelege" on himself and dripping his hot brain matter all over a place of enlightenment.

yeah, as Chris said, this stuff has happened in europe alot, I mean fucking Bob geldoff created a song about it!!! in fact, didnt we just have an anniversary for dunblaine not long ago??? but either way, this has been happening alot in eastern europe recently aswell like Chris said again, it's laz gun controls, and the state of a lot of the education system hell even over here in the uk, where we havent had a school shooting for quite some time, we are faced with kids with these feelings all the time, who generally end up commiting suicide! but hell, I dont think things can actually change that much, some people are just of this inclanation, things like this have always gone on and will always go on or am I becoming a cynic here?

That was about a shooting that happened in America in 1979 though. When the girl who did it was asked why she had she said "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day."

haha yeah man, I mades a cock up I had made a point about it being in the media all the time aswell over here, which led into that, but the way Id put it was fucking atrocious, mustve forgot to delete good ol bob from that bit aswell though on an unrelated matter (though perhaps it helps to demonstrate my desensitisation) I do actually really like that song, and the whole sillicon cheip line is just genius! haha
