i think for me it would have to be "master of puppets" or
"stairway to heaven"
but I'm not that great and i'm sure there are great guitarists on this site that have learned harder songs

Yeah not if you've been playing for a while, but a newby guitarist may find it difficult. I know I did. It all depends how much effort you put into your practicing.

i dunno towards dead end by children of bodom is very difficult, the solos anyway.
i suppose any tech death metal such as decapitated or behemoth is probably bands whose song i have stuggled to tab by ear/ learn
btw topic starter master of puppets is not hard XD the acoustic part in stairway is kinda tricky though

I've been playing for about 2 years and the most technical song I can play is Piece of Time by Atheist

I don't know, really... I stopped trying to learn songs a few months ago. Probably Stream Of Consciousness by Dream Theater, or any song by them that includes a difficult solo in it. I'm going to try out Panic Attack next.

probably Day 69 by Decapitated, The Vice by Sonata Arcitca (its a bitch to remember all the changes) and Dark Eternal Light by Dream Theater

Probably "Fermented Offal Discharge" by Necrophagist, or "This Godless Endeavor" by Nevermore both of which I barely have down, and I hardly remember the Necrophagist song because that was quite some time ago.

well master of puppets may not be the hardest song to play wen u are sitting down in your room playing to a backing track but trust me playing it for 8 mins live its a pretty hard song to keep tight

I dont think its difficult. It used to be for me. Im working on Lack of Comprehension now. Just one riff i need to do.
