Have you ever thought that trivium changed their style of music in the four records?

For example, in shogun it sounded more a combiantion of melody with harsh metal. In ascendancy the band only focused on being harsh..whta do you think?

I think both albums had moments of sheer brutality and then moments of great melody. If any one album was purely focused on creating hard and heavy music, it has to be Ember To Inferno. The entrance into the mainstream probably did have an impact on the band musical direction and style. I think they have continually changed their style of music to keep things interesting for themselves and their fans and I think this is a very good thing. Their discography offers so much diversity that somebody is bound to like at least one of their songs. It's relatively difficult for any band out there to achieve that nowadays.

They have, they're first album seemed almost 80's metal influenced. Which was great, then they SLOWLY changed their style. And i emphasize slowly because it wasn't a change over one album. the biggest change was from the first to second album in my opinion.

I personally thought it was another solid album from a great band. :-) People were obviously going to scrutinise the record since it was the follow-up to arguably the band's most successful album, "Ascendancy". Yes, the vocals took on a different direction but I personally liked it. All bands tend to do it once or twice in their career. Metallica did it, Avenged Sevenfold did it, Slipknot did it and countless others have. Trivium are always trying to break the boundaries of metalcore and progress further. The new vocals made them more accessible to people and brought in a new wave of fans. If anything, I think The Crusade was more of a financial success than Ascendancy but don't quote me on that.

I , honestly think that "The Crusade" wasnt a good album. First of all, because it wasnt a reflection of the anterior album: "Ascendancy".I understand that we must always improve our skills every day , but changing the vocals very fast.. is not a good option to maintain your bands identity and your fans preference.Second of all, not only the vocals has changed, but also the "way they play their music"(I dont know how to explain it musically, due to my lack of knowledge of guitars blah blah blah blah...)I REALLY believe that the "screaming part" is relevant in a metal band ,since Trivium began its career that way. Now this is my opinion...Im not forcing anyone to believe me , but that is how I thought about the third album.

Crusade is one of my favorites... Actually if I had to place them in order I'd say I can't do it...LOL
They are all very different and I like the combination of screaming and varied vocal styles within the one song.
I think Matt has an awesome metal voice no matter what style he's singing.
Change is good from one album to the next... Shows they have lots of good creative ideas.
You'd get a bit bored if one album was too similar to the previous.... Unless ofcourse it was a twin disc released at the same time...lol

Everyone has different tastes Nicola and as strange as it sounds, we all listen out for different things in songs and focus on the bits which 'do it" for us. For example you may be listening to the kick drum patterns combined with the cymbal work or you may focus on the harmonising between the guitars, or you may just be concentrating on the vocals and the rest is just background music.. REALLY LOUD....LOL

I can listen to the same song over and over again but focus on different points each time and it just highlights the awsomeness of every detail and how it all goes together to keep us starving for more..

Cheers,
Manny

There is vast differences on all 4 albums but regarding your comments on The Crusade i will have to respectfully disgree.
Changing the way they sound is a good thing, i don't know about you but i don't wanna hear the same stuff over and over again rendering the band stail, feeling as though if you've heard one song you've heard them all kind of thing.

Quite honestly, fuck their anterior album. I don't see why any bands should take that into consideration when creating new music, "they"(any band) as musicians should be able to express whatever is in their heads or theirs hearts without thinking of their fans. Music shouldn't be about that.........ever!

The Crusade in my eyes was a very solid release, i beleive it stands up to any other release. Instrumental wise it was phenomanal, add the vocals and it really did feel like a crusade.

I've had this conversation with quite a few people and genreally people that share your opinion are usually scene kids that dont know the first thing about music...
Eh, not trying to sound like a cunt, i mean no disrespect, its just the way i come across, lol.
