5150 tone is far better than any tone i have hear in metal.. IMO walks all over Mesa/Lany. only contender I think is. 'Framus:Cobra" thats me though.

It would help if you told us what modles you were thinking of getting. Some really good companies make really bad amps and the other way around.

The entire Marshall AVT series is awesome ... I would go with Marshall if you're willing to spend your life savings

peavey makes the greatest amps all around....sure, there might be some contenders out there, but im not complaining.......im lovin' peavey....I like the valve king, the xxx, the 5150, the ultra series and classics....they rip

LINE6 can not be used live!!!
Nuthin cuts through like a Marshall ...even a cheap one.
No matter what people say ...they are THE heavy metal tone.
