How to record with a line 6?
September 16, 2009 1:57:46 AM UTC Post #1

So I got a line 6 podxt today. I've tried to record in audacity but it gets fucked up when I'm recording the second guitar cause it's so hard without a metronome. So can anyone recomend a program for me which works in vista?
and, i have a jack between the mic entrance in my pc and the left output on my pod. With this connection, shouldn't i be able to hear my guitarplaying from my speakers? cause i dont.
thank you so much if you help me out!

Should've been in Musicians forum but...
Cool Edit Pro
Sonar studios
Adobe Audition
Cubase
Thats about it.
Oh and you need to put the speaker system as your monitor output from the Gearbox software

Open your windows audio mixer (double click on the little speaker in the system tray) then unmute the microphone slider, then you'll be able to hear the mic input.

You can do it all in Audacity. Click on Generate at the top, then Click Track, and it creates a metronome track for you. I actually like it more than Cubase's click system, because you can simply do a certain amount of bars in one tempo/time signature, and then another amount of bars in another, which is more complicated to do in Cubase.

Download this little program: http://www.analogx.com/files/taptempi.exe, then play a song in media player and open the program and press the spacebar to the beat of the song, and where it says "Tempo", put that number into the BPM box of the click track. For example for the song you posted the BPM is about 185. Then beats per measure is nearly always 4, and the number of measures just put a big number in, you can always add more if you run out.

I'd say 180 is fine for that song, although why you'd want to play it is another story.
