Humanity Doomed?

Another concept that's kind of crept it's way into our Pre-College morning debates on the bus, has been Global Warming, and effectively the end of the world .
I mean, apparantly we're going to lose most of our primary energy sources in the next 50 years, England is going have a climate like Spain, and New York and the rest of the East America is said to be engulfed by water. Now, I don't really care about all of that, but I'm going to be pretty pissed soon if I don't even have to electricity to play guitar.
So, are we all fucked? Are the actions the goverment and man-kind putting in place going to be enough to stop our own down-cycle, or if we are actually going to invent a re-newable energy source without creating a weapon potentially more disastrous than Global Warming tenfold. I personally think we've caused too much damge to try and repent ourselves.
Discuss.

I'm looking forward to it.
Well, the imminent Ice Age could be a bit of a bummer, but everyone loves snow.

No one can decide what's going to happen: another Ice Age or a Tropical Britain.
It appears that because of the Arctic Ice melting, lots of fresh water will be dumped into the Gulf Stream eventually causing it to stop: therefore Western Europe will experience another Ice Age.
OR
Temperatures will continue to increase, turning Britian into the Medditerannean with Mosquitos an added extra.

There are loads of clean renewable energy sources that we can use, but then the general public don't want them in most cases. Such as a Nuclear Power Plant, the public would consider it to be too dangerous to have more built. With wind farms, people think it's "too ugly on the landscape". But at the end of the day, the big issue is the cost of these energy sources.
Cars are a huge contributor to pollution into the atmosphere. The government should put a load more money towards the research and development of Hyrdogen Cell cars, as they don't give out any pollution at all.

Aren't they really slow though?
Good for Hammond though.

Technically yes, but I'm sure if they funded the research better, the scientist guys (whoever they are) could find ways to make them faster.

I heard my Physics teacher say this a couple of years ago, and feel it's pretty relevant to the discussion.
It takes a windmill 200 years to harvest the energy used in constructing it, when the predicted lifespan of an individual windmill is 100-150 years.
I can't tell you how accurate this is, but he knew his stuff.
