Its a Respect issue

The Crusade leaked. While this ultimately is a bad thing...it is also a good thing. Remember the boys couldn't wait for it to be released? Well...it leaked instead. To me...personally...and this is just me...its a respect issue at hand. I respect the boys enough to wait for the album to be released before I hear the new songs. If Trivium released the songs themselves...I'd listen to em...but the leak was not supposed to happen. A lot of people here have caught the leak and are listening ot the song. Great. Each one to his own. But me....Im waiting.
To me its a respect issue. I repect trivium and the hard work into this album to wait for the release date to hear the songs. As one who is in a band myself...thats what I would want from my fans. When our Cds came out...our fans were stoked. We didn't release any teasers or shit like that.
Anyway..my point is...to ME...its a respectful thing to do to wait for the album to be released before hearing the songs that the have not offically released. Just me though. Others have different views on this and thats great..we are human. Im not trying to berate or bash others here...I am simply stating my standing on it all.

It may be respectful to wait, but it's also regular that the album leaks and everyone downloads it. Most of us on this board are never going to meet and/or talk to Trivium, so to some of us, why does it matter? Should we have to respect people we'll never be in touch with. It seems silly to me to show respect to someone/something you don't even know personally.
I downloaded it... then got bored... then deleted it.

Here's my take. Without leaks & all that, you would just buy the CD based on just ONE song promoted prior to release day. You would buy the CD just off of that one song that you heard. But what if you listened to the rest & it sucked. I don't think stores would accept CDs at the same price you bought them, you would be ripped off.
That's why I chose to listen to them on the internet even before the release day. This way I know I won't be disappointed with it, it would be a safe purchase. With some waiting for the album to be released on not listen to the leaks is respect, but I'll buy the CD anyway ASAP.

Well fair doos Adam I respect your decision and much alike I often feel and act the same but having heard this at a listening party like a month ago I wanted hear it all again and felt it ruin the 'experience' for me as I had heard it already, Im saying this all in the knowledge I will be buying the album upon release already having it on pre release, had it been different and alike many of you I hadn't been fortunate to hear it at a listening party I most likely would have followed suit in a 'respectful' way and waited until it was intended to be heard.
When it comes to other albums I just cant be splashing out 10-16 or so pounds out on a single album. When I got Ascendancy, It was like 11.99 or so fair doos, it was a safe purchase and one I don't ever regret making, but going into HMV/Virgin and such recently the Ascendancy re-release and such they are wanting like 17.99 etc and I find that too much honestly...
I listen to lots and therefore you can anticipate the amounts of releases that I may show some interest in buying but again its costing lots, usually I download an album based on a few earlier songs a point Party Animal was coming onto, and I hear and if upon hearing the rest and like it enough Ill buy it otherwise I delete it in the knowledge Im not digging it, and it most likely won't be listened to again.

XP First post... Probably my only one...
I don't exactly think it's a respect issue... I heard about the leak on the 14th, and on the 15th downloaded the CD. I do like SOME songs on Trivium's new CD, and will, personally, buy it. The reason I'm buying the CD isn't to have a material copy of the CD, it's to help promote Trivium, to help keep them going, and to show them that I want them to make more songs.
For those of you that want to wait for the CD, I say, "To each his own." If you wanna wait, go ahead. There are some nice songs, but I personally liked the "Acendacy", and "Ember to Inferno" CDs better then "The Crusade." If you looked through the lyrics that have been posted, then you will see that this is more of a tribute CD... If you think that that is a bad thing for Trivium, wait till you hear the songs.
Last thing I have to say... I really hope that at least ONE of the band members reads the board semi-often to find out what the fans think. Love teh music, keep it coming. You won't die out any time soon. (Incase you were wondering... Meh fave songs are "Entrance to the Conflagration," "And Sadness Will Sear," "Becoming the Dragon," and "This World Can't Tear Us Apart")

I've been listening to the cd about everyday since i downloaded, it's no doubt about my 4th fav album, I'm not only buying it to have the real copy, but to also promote the band. I feel great supporting a band everyone in the supposed underground saying they suck. however much money i have to pay on Oct. 10 it's well fucking worth it. it may have ruined 50% of the excitment of heading to the mall to buy it, but i'll still listen to it nonstop untill i hear it live.

I think it both is and isn't a respect issue. If you haven't heard any tracks off of the Crusade it is kind of disrespectful to download it as that may mean you don't buy it (like a few people I know who don't like it). But if you know you are going to buy The Crusade I think it is very respectful to download as it shows you are an obsessed fanboy who loves teh band so much you can just not wait.

So true
I think (in my opinion) the guys know the vast majority of people here will purchase the album when they can, so they wouldnt mind AS MUCH (not saying they wont mind at all) if they downloaded the leak
maybe its becasue im drunk
But still, Im sure theyd rather people off the board downloaded the leak, and were preparing to buy it, than random fags off Blabbernouth doing it
