QUOTE(Storm of Damnation @ Aug 2 2008, 02:10 PM) Yeah, I love the fact that parts of it sound like earlier Trivium again. I loved The Crusade, and I was just as excited when I heard Detonation for the first time but I've always been fonder of the earlier Ascendancy-era music, which is what I can hear in Kirisute Gomen.
I think they really mixed all the things they've done pretty well in kirisute gomen. I really like that he keeps the crusade style "singing" and took back the ascendancy screaming. This is trivium at it's best!

a bit late to chime in but I think kirisute gomen is brilliant. It's a very brutal song but still manages to have melody at the same time. It does exactly what the band claimed they were gonna do which is combine the best of everything they've done right. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album but this song is a step in the right direction to say the least!

Im liking it quite a lot, finally a progressive song with some real metal feel. Im glad they didnt continue in "The Crusade" style. The production is ace also, the vocals are not too much upfront which gives more focus on the actual music which I prefer.

Listened to the song while playing Assassin's Creed the other day, fit perfectly.

I'm pretty much of the same mind. Triviums music in Ascendancy & Ember had a lot more feeling to it than the Crusade in my opinion. The Crusade definitely has an awesome balls out thrash vibe about it which I also love but this vibe is so much better and suits them alot more I think.
One thing I noticed about this song is that the intro acoustic melody sounds alot like one of the vocal melodies Matt is singing in the 3rd Webisode of The Making of Shogun. Reccuring melody throughout the album perhaps? That would be kool.

Hm, about the recurring melody - I noticed a slight (but maybe important enough) connection between the lyrics of 'Kirisute Gomen' and 'Into The Mouth of Hell'... the beginning of the 'KG' goes:
''He who walks the fire breathes
unlike the rest
living by the bloody creed
kirisute gomen''

while 'ITMoH' ends with:
''Now you see, for it is we
who walk the fire and breathe
make our way out of the grave
and lick the blood from our blades
-------------------------------------------------
The thing is that the two songs intertwine (lyric-wise) in some other segments as well; it seems to me that the general feel or point is kinda the same - both mention Hell, fight (battle, that is) and blades...

P.S. Although it took me some time to 'connect' to 'KG', I have really come to like the song incredibly much! But then again, it took me a while to start 'digging' the whole 'The Crusade' album, which I now really appreciate as well...

Yeah, I always felt The Crusade was a slow burner... I like it more with each listen.
