QUOTE(MyNameIsMisery @ Aug 14 2008, 12:16 PM) Hm, about the recurring melody - I noticed a slight (but maybe important enough) connection between the lyrics of 'Kirisute Gomen' and 'Into The Mouth of Hell'... the beginning of the 'KG' goes:
''He who walks the fire breathes
unlike the rest
living by the bloody creed
kirisute gomen''
while 'ITMoH' ends with:
''Now you see, for it is we
who walk the fire and breathe
make our way out of the grave
and lick the blood from our blades
-------------------------------------------------
The thing is that the two songs intertwine (lyric-wise) in some other segments as well; it seems to me that the general feel or point is kinda the same - both mention Hell, fight (battle, that is) and blades...
P.S. Although it took me some time to 'connect' to 'KG', I have really come to like the song incredibly much! But then again, it took me a while to start 'digging' the whole 'The Crusade' album, which I now really appreciate as well...
It's not a Trivium song/album if there isn't at least one reference to fire.

I just listened to "Kirisute Gomen" for the first time about 20 minutes ago...and...
I just shat myself.
This song alone.....BURIES Metallica....RIP. Death Magnetic is OK, has some good stuff and some kinda ok stuff.
This one song from Trivium...just destroys....obliterates everything on DM.
Holy......crap. The Crusade was a brilliant album....but now...I have very high hopes for Shogun to be even better!
Bring on Sept 30th!
Oh...and random concert memory. Trivium wa incredible opening for Maiden just before Christmas in London of 06. I was on the barrier on the left, and brought my American flag.....and held it up throghout their show. Got Matt to come over, shake his fist and mouth "Fuck yeah!"....was a very cool moment.

Why does Trivium always have to be compared to Metallica, seriously?

1) I did not compare them to Metallica, in style in my post. Both albums are being released in the same month....and I was simply making the observation that one was just ok....and the other looks like it's going to be very promising. It's fairly common fo people to compare albums released near each other, from the same genre.
2) Like it or not...their sound is fairly reminiscent of old style Metallica (up to AJFA) so, though I find Trivium to be more original and more talented. It's not a bad thing that the influences on a band, get mentioned. I've heard influences from Metallica, Iron Maiden, and even Judas Priest, in Trivium's music. But tht doesn't mean I don't think they have their own sound, either.

I don't think Trivium sound anything like Metallica. Not Shogun era Trivium, anyway..

The only time they have actually sounded anything like Metallica is in a few parts of songs on The Crusade. But it's certainly not enough to warrant constant comparisons to them, and in my opinion there were just as many parts of The Crusade that bore similarities to other bands than to Metallica. Ultimately though, I think Trivium have a very individual and definitive sound.

Actually, I've never really heard anything that sound similar to the 2 bands other then they both play metal... I mean... Heafy's voice somewhat is in the same type of singing as James but that's it... It's not like James invented that on will. It's just someone trying to sing, with a heavy sound... And Heafy likes doing that too!

Ok....but I DID say that I hear plenty of other influences as well and, again, I also mentioned that they definitely have a sound of their own.
It's not an insult to mention influences that you hear in music.

Oh I know, don't worry I was just expressing my opinion.
