How many and which languages can people on here speak, and how well? And how many people speak English as a second language? I know we have a few continental European people on here who speak English on the forum.
Personally, i only speak English, and probably enough French to go on holiday to France

English only
A got an A at French at GCSE, which was pretty easy tbh, but I hated my school's French teachers so there was no question of me carrying on with it. Languages should be taught at a much younger age imo. Starting at secondary school is just too late for most people. I did have some French lessons out of school when I was about 8, but I don't think my parents could afford to keep going with them. And I was hardly enthusiastic about the whole thing ...
Being English it's frankly embarrassing to see other countries where most people seem to be able to speak English, yet in England virtually no-one seems to be fluent in anything but English. We're a disgrace.
Though I'm pretty sure that by speaking louder and slower, and pointing at things, anyone can understand me...

Ive been to France like 5 times on holiday, and ive felt pretty bad that i couldnt speak French too well. I know bits n bobs like.
Once somebody i knew was stood revising his lines to buy some chips and nuggets in Mc Donalds. I had gathered the guy behind the counter was english and he had a mate there. So this lad goes up n asks for his fires. And i follow n went "can i have a large chicken nugget meal with a coke mate?" and then this guy goes "alright bud".
It was just so funny at the time as this guy had just gone along with it. But id like to know another language but im too lazy now. If it was a staple as a lesson from the start of education itd be better.

At the moment, I'm only bilingual, English and Spanish, although my accent and manner of speaking is more Andaluz than Latin American. I used to speak Italian pretty fluently, but I haven't practiced in about four or five years, so that's kind of gone down the tubes, I understand quite a bit when hearing it, and I'd like to get a program like Rosetta Stone to build it back up again. I learned some French in high school, I can understand a bit when it's spoken, I can read it with some accuracy, that's another one I'd like to regain. I know a few phrases and words in Portuguese, along with some minor phrases in German.
I'd love to learn Japanese or one of the Chinese dialects, Cantonese I think, just to be a shit and not learn Mandarin .
