I felt this needed a thread of it's own.
I'm not sure why, for discussing it i guess.
Any other Brits watching the whole saga on Channel 4 atm?
Possibly the most amazing films ever made.
Great books to read too.

There is Hobbit pr0n in the third film!
Frodo is topless!
I've read the books, twice. Plus The Hobbit. Good shizzle.
LotR is like... Star Wars.. for another generation... DUDE!!!
I think Gollum is an excellent representation of the effects of drugs.
He is afterall an addict.. wanting to always get his fix of the ring!
The dark riders are obviously the drug dealers. They take shit off no man (or hobbit!)

I can't watch the original ones anymore, because I always think about the added scenes on the special edition. Still, an amazing book, and great trilogy of films. Despite a lot of the integral thematic plots being kept in, you do have to treat the book and film as independent pieces of work. That doesn't take away from the greatness of the films, by any means.

What i like about the films is that they don't include the pages and pages of songs you get in the books, neverless, the books make a great read.
I'm sure peter jackson etc are working on the hobbit?

QUOTE(Madden)Wasnt Star Wars once considered LotR for a new generation?
Its funny how things can come full circle.
"The circle is now complete. When I met you I was but the learner. Now, I am the master!"

That's one of the many reasons you have to treat them as seperate entities.
As for The Hobbit, Peter Jackson has declared how he'd be willing to make it, and I'm sure he will eventually, but there's been some dispute over the rights. They were split between MGM and New Line Cinema some years ago.
MGM stated a couple of months ago they were willing to go ahead with production of the film, and were considering Peter Jackson, but filming isn't likely to begin for a few years yet. There have been reports of two films being made, one based on the direct story of the Hobbit, and another based on the sub-plot of the White Council, that would tie it in with the Lord Of The Rings trilogy.
For now, we're gonna have to settle with the Animated version.

I'd like to see the one about the White Council, sounds like that'd make a good watch.
I've just realied that i actually missed the two towers, so now i'm going to have to go and buy the box set.

I dont get Rick's reference
There are signs on the ring
which make me feel so down
there's one to enslave all rings
to find them all in time

That one is really easy to guess! XD

One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

I love that line.
