METALLICA have issued the following update:

They will play with us in Chorzow, Poland and Prague, Czech Republic for the two headlining shows on the first part of our summer European vacation. The remaining dates in May and June are festivals with tons of other cool bands. As usual, there's more to come..."

May 30 - Landgraaf, Netherlands - Pinkpop
May 31 - Madrid, Spain - Electric Weekend

What's the point? You're not coming to England.
AGAIN.
To be honest, I couldn't give a shit anymore.. and I get bored of whining about the fact that they only really ever play festivals and one off type shows here.

I think that because they have a massive fan base here now, they think they don't have to come here too often.
Plus, the decrease in the frequency of their visits means that fans who want to see them will sell out their venue in like 2 hours.

Yeah, I think you're right.. and it's a real shame.

Wow.... this was predictable. And yet again Metallica have got a shite support act. Well done lads.........

Damn, I misread that!
Can't Americans think of their own names for their cities?

They did that 'this time in English' because the last news post on their site was in Bulgarian!
Though I do agree with you on the whole them not touring the UK thing, despite Lars promising an 'arena tour of England' this year in an interview after the Wembley gig....

Maybe it will come. Im not completely anti-tallica. I would love to see them do a proper tour here.
Which I think is nothing more than their fans deserve.

Yeah, it would be an immense tour though, if they actually toured the country. They haven't toured for so long the crowd response would verge on fanatical almost I think.
Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Black Sabbath (H&H) and Iron Maiden are all the same age or older and manage to do proper tours without killing themselves, so I don't really think Metallica have much of an excuse. OK their fanbase is probably considerably bigger than that for any of the other bands, but they could still do a similar ammount of dates just at bigger venues, or at the same size venues plus a few festival/stadium shows.
Someone needs to kick Lars and James up the arse and make them put the effort in
(not that what they do now doesn't take a lot of effort, its just not enough)

I'm sure there'll be an England Arena Tour. This is probably the first leg of the World Tour. In the Summer they always play festivals. Especially in Europe, where most bands would prefer to play in the Summer anway. Once it hits September they'll probably do a North American tour then an England tour. They owe us. I wouldn't be suprised if this Summer they'll play at Wembley, I'd definetly be there. Last year was phenomenal.

Shit? Machine Head are fantastic live.

If they just play a date in Wembley, a date in Scotland and a couple of festivals I'll think they're a fucking joke. Like you said, they owe us.. and they owe us more than a couple of one of gigs and a couple of shitty festivals.

February 27, 2008 1:48:23 PM UTC Post #10

I doubt they'll play Wembley, and its pretty much known that they're playing Leeds Reading this summer, though that is not in sync with the other festival dates this year so who knows, they may do a tour.
But, as Podgie says, I have the bad feeling that the 'tour' won't venture far out of London or Edinburgh.....

Edit
Oh and Creeping Dan is just wrong about Machine Head......just wrong
