He's right. I don't think there is going be THAT much screaming on the new album, but we'll see.

Fixed
I know Corey at least has said he wouldn't listen to Death Metal etc if it wasn't for the musicianship, not sure whether that would have any bearing on the new Trivium album though

how can you 'fix' someone elses opinion ??
anyways, if Corey hates screaming so much, why does he do so much live? And if he's not that into death metal, how come Matt often refers to his encyclodedic knowledge of the genre as something he finds impressive? Why did they all wear death / black metal bands tee shirts on stage in the early days and on the album liners? Why are they bringing some Ascendancy style screaming back for the new album? Why is Matt the front man in a death metal band? (Carphanum)
just some inconsistancies I've picked up from their numerous video interviews over the years etc...

Corey doesn't hate screaming, or bands that use harsh, low or 'guttural' vocals and I don't think anyone said he did either.. As you said they have been known to wear shirts from various extreme metal bands.. I don't think anyone is denying the fact that they enjoy that type of metal.
Oh and, technically Matt is no longer a member of Capharnaum, nor did he ever front the band.

A band that does music for their fans and not for themselves is not a true band. Sure, the fans made them, but who cares? We decide to listen to them and if they go somewhere we don't like we stop listening to them or whatever. Music is an expressive art, what's the point creating a piece of art for someone else?

The band makes music THEY want to make - always have, always will. Musical expression is a journey and sometimes to get to a certain destination there are many nice places along the way to stop and visit. In that respect records are exactly that - "records" of certain events at certain times. The next installment of the Trivium recording catalog will be their expression of where they are as a group at that particular moment and will be created based on what THEY feel is necessary for THEIR music.
That said - we hope you like it when it's done!
The end.
- Justin
