When I listen to ascendancy it dosen't sound like the same band that wrote Crusade... I had really high expectations for the crusade but it really is a metallica rip off. the worst album I've bought. and then as if the album wasn't bad enough. with the exception of the broken one and vengeance (Which were B-sides for god's sake) the only songs I can listen to from that album. They've ruined the live expierience. They now sound like crap live! I really wanted to go see them ascendancy era but now it'd be a huge waste of my money. atleast scream ascendancy songs! It's like nails down a chalk board listening to "Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation" with no screaming, bar Coreys weak growl that just about anyone can do..

We're all veeeery bored of the "Metallica rip off" thing here. The Crusade doesn't actually sound much like (any) Metallica, at all.

I don't wanna sound like a prick but I really don't like it when Matt thrash vocals ascendancy songs. I prefered ascendancy because it gave me sort of a rush. the screams were so powerful. Recently though, songs like a gunsot to the head of trepidation sound weak. almost as if they're being done by a thrash band covering it. I really want to experience that rush live. I was over the moon when I heard he's screaming again, and yesterday booked tickets to a holy alliance show. I like Trivium.. They're an awsome band,. Even if I can't say I liked the Crusade. they still wrote one of my favourite and just plain raw and adrenline pumping songs "Blinding Tears Will Break The Skies"
However Now all is well, he's giving both sides of the arguement what they want with the new album and is compensating by screaming ascendacy's songs.

I don't think you sound like a prick. Some people liked the slightly cleaner 'thrash' vocals if you like which featured on The Crusade, some people prefer Ascendancy style screaming, some like both.
My personal view on it is that the songs which feature the screaming, should be screamed live. Then again I would fall into the group that like both styles.
Matt's vocals are one of the aspects of the new album im looking forward to hearing the most, the very brief sound clip of Matt demoing a new song I saw through TriviumWorld sounded fucking brutal.
