Anyone who thinks an accoustic song means a band is going "soft" is a moron. |

Annihilator have some GREAT ballads.. I would definatly say metal bands playing ballads is fine, aslong as they are good songs.

Voice of the Soul, perfect example of a band not going soft. |

Is most of the time really awesome and sometimes gives a well needed break... plus, I like falling asleep to them. |

I'd have to disagree with the idea that if a band does a ballad they go soft. If you follow Pantera, for example, after they recorded Cemetary Gates on the Cowboys From Hell album, their music only got angrier, louder, and even darker in most songs. If you listen to Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven, you see that they were neither soft nor toning everthing down. Even their "ballads" had Phil Anselmo screaming. |
