My Review and Awesome Meet & Greet Experience at Oklahoma City 2008
September 15, 2009 11:49:41 PM UTC Post #1

First of all, this was honestly one of the best night of my life, and here's why...
I had to drive almost four hours from Greenville, TX near Dallas, just to see these guys. but it was more than worth it. As soon as I got the  arena to pick up my meet and greet info, I actually ran into Travis' cousin. I told her how Travis was one of my main influences in drumming and I was really looking forward to meet him. She later told me she talked to him and told him how excited I was. She was really nice.
Now on to the show...
Let me just say Trivium are at the top of their game! Matt is actually screaming a lot more, and when he isn't Corey fills in and is starting to sound more and more like Matt! Both Matt and Corey didn't miss a single note. Their solos were FLAWLESS. Paolo was the most energetic and was constantly moving around. I got a few high fives. His backup vocals were spot on too. Travis never missed a beat and his bass drums were loud and heart pounding, He also has a new very metal hit with spikes going around it! The show was full of energy and I've never seen more crowd surfing at a show in my life.
The setlist has been mixed up for the best with the debut of Insurrection and the return of Rain!
Setlist:
Kirisute Gomen
Becoming the Dragon
Insurrection
A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation
Like Light to the Flies
Into the Mouth of Hell We March
Down from the Sky
Rain
Pull Harder on the String of Your Martyr
During the show, I think Travis and I had some kind of drummer chemistry as he noticed me front row center air drumming right along to what he was doing all night.
After the show he came to hand out a signed drum head. While everyone was reaching for it, he came up to me, grabbed my wrist, and personally put it in my hands. Talk about an amazing experience when one of your favorite drummers does something like that!
As I was waiting for the meet and greet, the tour manager (Melissa or Maria) can't remember, sorry, was so nice. She actually gave me Travis' drum gloves then took me to meet the band of the night.
Let me tell you, if you haven't met these guys yet, they are really cool and down to earth. I got some stuff signed, and Matt really liked my Shōgun pre-order shirt and actually hadn't seen it yet. lol It was an honor to meet these future metal legends and I'll never forget how great this day was!
Here's some pics of me, the guy in the Shōgun shirt (all nasty and sweaty) and my friend who came along with the mighty TRIVIUM!

They didn't post for some reason, and let me fix that.
When I say legend, I usually mean like the classic Metal bands, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc.
Doesn't mean I don't absolutely LOVE and admire Trivium though.
