Hello folks, I'm assuming that very few of you (if not, none of you) will remember me. I used to post a lot on the old style message board.

I've been about, but stopped posting with the updated message board for a number of reasons that I shall not go into at this junction...

I have returned as I know that the chaps will be heading into the studios soon to recrod the new album, and I am a big fan of what the guys do and am deeply looking forward to the new album, and think that a) I wanna express my opinion and b) I want to hear othber peoples opinions (which means, people, after this fairly long post I wanna hear what you're wanting hear, what excites you etc etc)

Ive tried to see what metal hammer magazine is saying this evening about the new album, the page isn't actually working. What I can glean from the site is that the guys will be heading into audio hammer in florida ( where they recorded Ember and Ascendancy) with Colin Richardson(!) who has previously worked with many of the metal greats, producing credits include Fear Factory's 'Demanufacture' and Machine head's 'burn my eyes' (!) he also has mixed many albums by machine head (blackening, any man that can deal with tha many overdubs deserves kudos!) and a shitload other good fucking bands (I would say metal bands, but he has done more than that).

'The crusade', which is a fucking awesome album by the way people, was even mixed by him.

I am loving shattering, have been since its release, and think that a lot of good is going to be happening on this new album. Matts screams are so much better than they used to be, his clean singing is warmer and more personal and his grittier singing (which, for me, made a lot of the old songs better with its proper introduction in the 2006-2007 gigs, and really contributed to the amazing sound of shogun, and the crusade of course) is excellent. I hope the right balance is struck for this album.

I'm hoping that there is an even higher level of technicality in terms of the guitar work, both in the metal and acoustic stakes. I want to hear the heaviest moments that trivium can create and the lightest intertwined as one; the guys do an amazing job at it all that it needs to be displayed, i feel.

Nick, I haven't seen you with the guys yet. I had tickets for your camden KOKO gig, but I didn't manage to make it down. However, I have heard your drumming on shattering and a bunch of live youtube vids; I'm looking forward to your unrelenting, very clockwork, metal style. Please, however, don't lose the 'groove' that was present in earlier Trivium offerings, and do definately try to explore the progressive elements the rest of the band displays in your drumwork. I think you are an extremely good drummer, I'm really looking forward to hearing you with the rest of the guys on a full length. Good luck and enjoy it!

Paolo, you my friend have grown so much as a person since I first heard you/ met you. If you remember I picked you up around the end of your metal militia days (before I heard Trivium) and thought you sounded awesome. Since you picked up the trivium gig you have gone from strength to strength. Your bass lines are interesting, heavy and all they need to be; you have become a very definate presence in the song writing process aswell, which is something I think is amazing. Broken one was an amazing track by the way, well done on that shit!

Corey, your guitar skills have always ensured that shit is kept on the shredtastic end of things.... keep that shit up!

I'm really looking forward to the new record; cannot wait till I hear some new happenings from you guys. Should be heading down to your next london show; I look forward to hearing you live again.

OOO and Matt, well done on your marriage. I don't think you could have met anyone more lovely and perfect for you (I met your lovely wife when I was at the Crusade listening party, along with seeing you again [ah the street teaming days, they were lovely]) and I hope that you two have the most wonderful time with each other.

yeah great post mate i agree with everythin..... esp how good nick is!! but i also hope that he keeps alot of the intricate drumming in the songs and doesnt just blast beat his way through songs... i'm sure he wont though as he is an amazing drummer. I've seen trivium with Nick live twice and he was great!

that was a beast of a post man, and like andy i agree with everything you posted, yeah, ive seen trivium with nick playing the once, the only thing that disappointed me was him simplifying Pull harder's drums.but apart from that as matt say, "he's killer brings a lot of energy to the 'trivium sound'" and boy you can defiantly hear it.
