QUOTE(Dark Angel Management)You should also know that heavy metal merchandise is the highest seller at the chain (Maiden, Metallica, Slayer etc.) over punk and emo by a landslide.
And that is a good thing for metal music.

even in chicago, i live by a hilarious store called "metal haven"... and i think there was may be one trivium cd in there. if it isn't black or death, graphic art cover with an equally disgusting name, they don't really want sell it. and they always stare me down in there, because i'm sure i'm not metal enough to be worthy. i don't know how they survive without serving other metal markets. so it doesn't seem to me that only putting your cd in obscure little shops will get your music out there. i grew up a punk rock kid always going to anti-chain, grassroots little shops, but it just doesn't work for metal. the judgement and elitism is through the roof.
so it isn't a matter of "going corporate." if it wasn't for hot topic... it'd just be more gaps, abercrombies, etc etc for teenage kids. yes, a lot of stuff in there is very-cringe-worthy. but the wall of band shirts and cds isnt' half bad.

if you're planning on going to HT,take lots of money with you; they also have the Mutant shirt and the Trivium "Collage" shirt.apparently, there's also a reversible beanie there that Paolo posted about. if you happen to pass by a Spencer's, check the place out; they've got a shirt with the dude from the Ascendancy cover on it; it's the one with the red circle surrounding him,and it says Ascendancy on the back.somebody also posted a pic of a belt buckle they sell at Spencer's too.happy merch hunting!!!
