Just heard the new King Diamond album all the way through and it is brilliant! Excellent songs, melodies, guitarwork and King's singing is just great on this one!

The King talks of that exact subject in an interview in the latest revolver. I'm not going to put it up against any of his prior albums simply cuz of that.

"but, generally speaking, downloading instead of buying is for the scenewhores and bandwagoners."
Tape trading and bootlegging was also for scenewhores, then?
As for the album, it's quite generic and boring. It's nowhere close to the level of Fatal Portrait or Abigail.

But listen to me guys. MF is always better than KD!
I'm a huge MF fan, but I've never liked 'em as much as KD. Don't know why really. I'm not a big fan of MF's lyrics though, all this "hail satan" is getting kinda boring after listening to a few songs.

The tape trading networks were for the trading of demo material, to get a band's name into the open. It wasn't a torrent to download a band's full discography.
Bootlegging is a deplorable practice, as well. Granted, some bands don't particularly care about live material and such, but there's a lot of operations out of Eastern Europe in particular which are illegally pressing albums that are either still in print without any royalties being paid to the bands. Thanks to these people, a lot of classic albums which would have been reissued haven't been, because there've been bootlegs in circulation of those albums, which, in turn, undermines sales of any reissue which would be put into production.

I dont see how you can compare those two methods of getting music.. Tape trading was essential to the scene.. It was something that had to be done, radio didnt play the tracks, magazines didnt interview the bands, stores didnt stock the demos, the internet didnt exist, how else would you get hold of the new shit?
As for the King Diamond album, im definitely looking forward to it, ive heard that one track that is available and really like it. Besides, its the King and Andy..
