lol, textbook usually means pretty much perfect. Which is what one expects from this album...

ah, i understand now. usually the phrase 'textbook' comes up in sports like football where one does something perfectly, like an example off a textbook. I usually don't associate that word with a creative subject like music as if there was a textbook for music it'd be very pointless and boring.

They were playing a few riffs on this video interview with Brent, and it sounds fucking great. I for one am ready for an atmospheric, melodic Mastodon record influenced by astrophysics, space, and time travel. I only hope they retain a fair amount of heavy vocals and riffing.

Take their covers of songs like One and Emerald as an example of how Mastodon will probably sound on this record. So, fucking BRILLIANT.

Dont forget The Bit, Madden.

Fair enough, though I guess if this is the air element, by logic, Mastodon are finished after this album. Unless they write one about Mila Jovavic and Bruce Willis.

Bwahaha, Mastodon should do a cover of that space opera from the film (Fifth Element)

QUOTE(Fugue @ Oct 30 2008, 01:10 PM) I'm quite worried about the whole 'classic rock' thing but I'm pretty sure Mastodon are the kind of band who won't disappoint....hopefully.
That track listing looks sweet though - it looks like The Czar is a multipart epic
It's not really 'classic rock' but more like a more Progressive rock approach. Which I find pretty interesting, where can I hear some of their new stuff?
