QUOTE(Northern_Wrath)QUOTE(Asphyxiated.)Saying that Trivium changed their sound for marketing is a fuckin' laugh.  End of.
I didn't say thats why they did it. I said it seems like it. Why does everyone liek blowing every observation out of proportion
Geeez!
because everyone's opinion will be responded by another opinion. it's not meant to argue (well, i never mean to argue), it's meant to represent another point of view.

i agree it has changed you cud say for the better i prefered their old way of singing but hey they must know wat they are doing by now the only problem with trivium is im afraid they changed their style of singing so they cud become the new metallica. I dunno maybe they are already

Is it or is it not fact that asphyxiated was at triviums recording for the new record? out of all the people in this topic i think he would know if triviums sound has changed for marketing.

Becoming the new metallica would be a GOOD thing you nubs. Pre- black metallica at least.

They are not the next Metallica though, it's been said about 10,000 times...they are going in their own direction.

QUOTE(Northern_Wrath)You can totally hear the hetfields, totally. Even the stage antics.
Thats besides the point. I'd liek trivium ALOT more if they hda started with rif metal. It seems a little... fake. Its like they used metalcore to get themselves started, gain fans, then decided they should change their style. It doesnt seem like evolution, but calculated marketting
Either way, I'm glad hes dropped the screaming. BLEH. And Im a fan of guitar playing, and solos, being a lead guitarist, so I can't complain. They need more groovy riffs though. Something in 5/4 or 7/8
everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think Ascendancy has some of the best and most memorable riffs laid down in recent years and Crusade will continue that. Trivium were never metalcore to begin with. This is like the most common misconception probably because they got big at the same time metalcore's popular so they got lumped in. Nothing they do reminds me of hardcore and they don't even cite any hardcore influences. Ya they have some breakdowns so what? so does metallica and pantera. Ya they screamed so what? so do black and death metal bands.

Never once did they say anything like "hey we should make this appeal more it's too heavy" Or anything stupid like that. They were in the studio having fun with recording their new album, and the only thing they talked about was how badass a part was, or how heavy a riff was, or how something needed to be tweaked a bit.
It's not like they're shooting to be the next linkin park. lol.

I don't get the whole marketing thing. RR doesn't sit down with the band and go, guys you need to sound like this. We write and record the stuff, they market the music we deliver.
