Decent, active pickups are never as dynamic as passive pickups. I prefer Dimarzio, Seymour Duncan and Bare Knuckles myself. |

Compared to the pickups on a B.C. Rich bronze series Warlock or a Dean MLX? |

People say EMGs are shit, and they aren't. The truth is, they are decent, but only decent. They have a lot of output for some pretty beefy distortion, but they don't have very good dynamics. I guess you could say that they sound '2-dimensional.' Everything about their sound is right there in your face, which is alright(just alright, as in: there are passive picks out there with better dynamics AND high output) for high gain, but piss poor for just about anything else. |

Seymour duncan got some of the best Passive pickups I have ever tried. And now when I tested the Blackouts, they have the best actives to. |

In my honest opinion, SD's are only at their best when you put them in a Jackson. They do have a few great pickups, but the Dimarzio D Activator is a fucking metal beast. |
