Paolo Gregoletto
I was born in Miami, Florida on September 14th, 1985. My mom is from Pennsylvania and my dad is from Italy. Neither of my parents play music, but my grandfather has been playing piano and singing since he was a child and he is pushing 90 now (he is amazing by the way!) I attended catholic school from kindergarden till I graduated high school. My first car was a 1974 Dodge Dart Sport which was a hemi orange, extremely loud and fast rust bucket. My first bass was a entry level yamaha 4 string bass which I still have to this day. I played a lot of sports growing up, my favorite being soccer which I played from 3 years old up till I graduated.
I started playing bass at 11 or 12, and guitar a year and half later. Nick and I, along with two other grade school friends, decided to step into the big leagues and play the 14th annual St. Coleman's Italian Festival. We played three songs with no vocals, Dammit by Blink 182, Self-Esteem by the Offspring, and For Whom the Bell Tolls by Metallica. We also had a summer camp band called "Road Kill," which also featured Nick's brother on bass and me on guitar. Around 13 we started Metal Militia, which I would play in till I joined Trivium in 2004. Trivium and Metal Militia played two shows together, one in Daytona Beach and one in Tampa. We kept in touch a bit, but it wasn't till I became friends with Jason Suecof that I heard the blue demo which they had just finished. I went to record a demo for new Metal Militia stuff around the time Brent had left Trivium. The timing worked out perfect and I offered to give the upcoming Road Rage tour a shot filling in on bass. I went in with the intentions of having a good time and making the best of the experience, even if it wasn't a permanent thing. That tour was a blast, and they ended up asking me to join and play on the upcoming Road Runner debut, Ascendancy.
