well, maybe not the DESIGN of the guitar itself, but changing the pickups wouldnt seem wrong to me...

I dont think theres anything wrong with changing the electronics in a guitar if you want too. I personally wouldn't ahve picked EMG's though.

err, dude, i spend about two thirds of my online time on BLS.net, i think i know about their relationship.
If you were given a guitar, specially designed by you best friend and it was presented to you a fortnight after he died, would you dare to mess with the design?
If it matched my playing style, yes.
a pickup generally doesnt match a personal playing style. you get oens good for metal, and the duncan/dimarzio combo in it originally did perfectly well. Zakk sounds like Zakk no matter what pups he uses. i've even seen him rip on a Tele with single coils and he still sounds like Zakk. The EMGs in the Razorback are completley unnecessary.

Well for some reason unbeknownstd to me, Zakk likes the tone his EMG's give him, so thats why he put them in, no doubt. Other than that, pickups dont change your playing style, but they'll change your tone.

Will this do?
Wow, he fucked that song up(IMO). He overloaded on wah and you could barely hear the actual song under all the wah and distortion.

it's all a matter of opinion, good tone for one person could be the opposite for another. People like James Hetfield and Zakk Wylde can use any equipment or pickup they want and yet they pick EMG. I personally love EMG active's and i think they are best pickup for music with heavy distortion (ie METAL) period. This is because they are extremely accurate, noise-free and cut through the mix like no other pickup. Everyone should decide for themselves by their ear and don't let anyone else make the choice for you. After I played and heard EMG's through a pro setup (high end ESP guitar and MESA tube amp) there is only one choice for me.
