I stole this from another forum. it never really took off there, so im hoping maybe it will here. im interested in what everyones playin. im exapanding a little bit on the original i dea. i love tech stuff. it totally fascinates me. so show us your gear, how you use it, and why. how do you get your sound? oh and drummers, go ahead and do the same! bass, fiddle, bagpipes. whatever. heres an example of the general layout:
Subject: Rockstar1's Stage Rig --------------------------- Rockstar1's Stage Rig: 1970s Fender Jazzmaster (Seymour Duncan Vintage Pickups) - 1960s Gibson SG Standard > Boss SD-1 Overdrive (Analogman Mod) > Fulltone Fulldrive II > Boss Ge-7 EQ > Electro-Harmonix Small Stone > Line 6 DL-4 Delay Modeler (For Looping) > Digitech Digiverb > Vox AC-30 2x12 Combo Music Played: Brit-pop, Indie-pop, Atmospheric --------------------------- OKAY, so i'll start with mine. Schecter omen-6 (seymour duncan detonator in the bridge) > dunlop jimi hendrix wah > boss ds-1 distortion > crate blue voodoo 120h head (6L6's) > peavey 412ms cab (4 celestion g12k-85's) Music Played: mostly metal. i play jazz also, but i use another combo for that. my guitar is great for the price, cant really afford much better at the moment, but im happy with it. I put the detonator in the bridge kuz i bought it for a project guitar, but just ended up gutting that project guitar and swapped out my schecter stock pickup with this one. its the cheaper version of the invader. the definition isnt so clear. its a really sharp and bright pickup. really hot. i go through my wah, for whenever i just want to dick around with it, or if a solo calls for it. the ds-1 isnt that great. i keep the distortion all the way down, and the level all the way up, and the tone nob pretty neutreal. so basically its a boost. within the next couple weeks im replacing it with a digitech bad monkey overdrive. (theyre much better than you might think... it can definitely hold its own against and ibanez and a maxon) i had a boss ns-2 noise suppressor, but that just stifled the sound. and it was just a gate. im not a big fan of the pedal. idk, i like controlling my feedback... hopefully when i have the extra cash, i want to get a tuner pedal, preferably the new planet waves one. my amp head is great. all tube, lots of gain. i usually use either one of two EQ settings, depending on how im feeling, or the musical situation. first, bass 7-8, mids 5-6, treble 4-5 second, bass 6-7, mids 3-5, treble 5-7 umm thats about it. i like my sound alot. its decent. its not my dream sound. eventually i want to get a marshall. jcm900 or jcm2000. just love the sound... not a big fan of mesa's, they do sound great, just dont think i'll get my dream sound out of one. I DO like the stillettos tho.
**EDIT** cant forget picks! dunlop tortex .88mm (the green ones) i'll go up one to bule, or down one to yellow if i have to. but i live for dunlop dunlop tortex .88mm picks.

Ok well here is a breakdown of what im using. Guitars Ibanez RGT2202OL Ibanez RG350MDX Washburn Dime V (Sadly Retired) Amps Fender Frontman 125R Crate Half Stack, I got it second hand of a friend, so i have no idea what the model is, but its good. soon to be purchasing a GTX Head for it Pedals Footswitch for the crate Dime Crybaby Wah Digitech Delay Boss NS-2 Noise Supressor (yeah i got one to) When I Play Metal.... Ill run by Ibanez (Either one) Through the wah and delay into the Crate (im a minimalist), Ive got treble at 10, mids at either 4-6, bass at 5, Gain all the fuck way up 11 (haha, Spinal Tap), Reverb i have slight touch of so i keep it a in between 2 and 3 and on a Slower melodic solo i might put it up to about 5 or 6 for "Ambience" When I Play Blues..... Now i always use my RG350MDX, Its added single coil gives it a weird "kick" to it which sounds really much like eric clapton, I dont use my Wah or Delay, Keep my gain down to 3, treble still at 10, mids at about 6 just for a volume bosst really, Reverb at 4 for once again..."Ambience", i use my Neck and Humbucker and the single coil for the blues ryhthm stuff, and for those nice solo's i use all 3 for that Tone which sounds like the main melody to layla. Thats about it, like i said, im a minimalsit Oh yeah my pickups, The RG350 Has Infinty S3 Pickups, and The RGT220 I got Dave Mustaine Live Wires for both humbuckers and hopefully after chrsitmas ill be buying an EVO For the single coil

Guitars: Ibanez SZ520QM Gould Les Paul Custom Copy 1992 Squier Strat with Hotrails at the bridge and neck Shine Telecaster Vintage Folk Acoustic Homemade Xplorer (doesnt really get used atm tho) Amp Carlsbro GLX85 Pedals Morely Classic Wah Boss CH5 Chorus Enseble Footswitch for amp
Generally my setup for all genre's stays the same, i just wear the guitar for the purpose. For metal its always the Ibanez and the strat. for general rock/classic rock shit i use the Les Paul, for Indie stuff (yes i play Indie everyso often) i use the Tele, for funk i use the Strat and now i have the acoustic i can pretty much cover every genre. all i need to make my setup perfect for my current needs is a delay pedal. with chrous, delay and the reverb on my amp i can do pretty much anything i want.

Guitars: Gibson 57 Les Paul Goldtop reissue, Fender American Standard strat, Dean Evo with bigsby. Amp: Hughes and Kettner Matrix stack Effects: Dunlop 535Q wah, GNX3(never use) I play hard rock, and for that reason i got the strat and les paul. I got the strat simply becuase i saw Kenny Olson play it at Woodstock 99 and was amazed by how heavy he could make it sound. The les paul just gives me that real thick, heavy tone i wanted. Im more influenced by blues-rock lead guitar players and ive always been inspired by Zakk Wylde, Kenny Olson and Slash's use of their wah pedals. I have the Dean for a back up axe. I got my amp for a bargain at $150. There isnt alot that i want other than an equalizer, and maybe some flange or something to boost my clean channel. I will need a new head eventually.

Bass: Dean Edge 5 Lefthanded, see through black Pedals: Distortion pedal (Boss DS1 modded by stinkfoot ATM) Tech 21 Bassdriver DI Amp: Behringer Ultrabass XB1200 The bass ain't the best, the bridge is pretty crappy and the nut is PLASTIC!!! I'm replacing both when I get money, and I'll replace the pickups with EMG 40DC-pickups and some sweet electronics... The reason I wrote "distortion pedal" and then what type it was is because I'm not really happy with it... I will sell it soon, and I'm thinking about buying something like a Fulltone Bassdriver... I want that overdriven amp-sound AND some full on-distortion, and I hope the fulltone can deliver. The amp will go soon as well, I know a guy who has an Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ with an Marshall 2x15-cab to go with it, and an rack to go with the head with extra room for other funny rack-thingys The second I get the money, I'm buying the amp. I'm also looking for some modulationpedals (I'm thinking about the new EHX-pedal), a wah (Morley) and a tuner (boss?)... I hope it all sounds good when I'm done.

QUOTE(Dark_Nation @ Dec 26 2006, 05:45 AM) Yeah, i got a new amp recently and i thought i was done, but now i need a foot switch lol i was shopping for a footswitch for my amp a few hours ago online... and i remembered i had this old broken fender solid state with a built in footswitch. i yanked that out, found an old 1/4" cable (i needed a ts) and i broke out the soldering gun... 10 minutes later. i had a footswitch! just tested it out about an hour ago, after i finished. works marvelous.
