Word. It's a real shame some of us had to become fans past his life span. But even we "newcomers" respest the majesty and legend that he had.
Amazing guitarist, amazing vocalist, revolutionist and forward thinker. The world of metal is much greater for his work to the genre, especially death metal. Which he helped define and shape the sound of. Human I think is the greatest metal album ever made. It's perfect in so many ways.
His work with Control Denied, even though it wasnt death metal is one of the best progressive melodic metal albums ever written.
I mean, damn when you hear Scream Bloody Gore for the first time, you cant help be REACTING to that RAW BRUTAL SOUND! Whether it's a reaction of positive or negative opinion, its an album that grabs you definetly. The following albums, Leprosy and Spirtual Healings are masterpieces in old skool DM. Flawless I think. While the more melodic latter day albums show his great way of thinking towards guitar leads and memorable yet technical music. A completely AMAZING discography of albums with no weak links. What a feat to pull off!
The world is at a great loss without Charles Michael "Evil Chuck" Schuldiner. RIP FATHER OF DEATH METAL!

agreed
I mean im one of the biggest mayhem fans going but you dont see me setting up a thread every year on the aniversary of euro's death. Also for all the atheist fans on here why not a thread every febuary 12th for the aniversary of roger patterson's death.
And for this if you dont like death you dont like metal business thats been floating round the forum personally i dont like the band after leprosy as i dont care for the melodic stuff and I remember my cousion playing me the first control denied album thinking wtf is this.
although credit where its due voodocult, chuck and mille from kreator on guitar with dave lombardo behind the drumkit was as good as everything it promised.

I think it's necessary because Chuck was basically the father of death metal, he was such a huge influence.
You wouldn't have so many of the bands that we all listen to today if it wasn't for him.
Doesn't really matter if you don't like Death, just respect the memory of someone who had such a huge part in forming extreme metal.
THAT is why this is necessary.

Lets face it, nobody would stop you if those threads were made and im sure people would pay respect. And if we want too, then belt up.

From now on I think this can be the 'Official R.I.P Chuck' thread. I'm not the biggest Death fan by a long way, but if people want to pay their respects by posting photos and discussion the music the man created then that’s fine. (If you don't like it, don't come in here) I also don’t think this thread has to only be active around the anniversary of Chuck’s death. So Dan, (or anyone else) feel free to drag this thread up, anytime. We’ll not create another one next year, just keep this one going.
I haven’t listened to any Death for a while, but I have a lot of things to sort out around the house today so I think I’ll take the opportunity to give a few of my very favourite Death records a spin.

Death are easily one of my favourite bands and Chucks's death is one of the cruellest things that could ever have happened to metal. Chucks's voyage from the deepest darkest depths of Scream Bloody Gore to The Fragile Art of Existence's hope and rebirth, however, will always remain with us, He was a genius and a virtuoso, and he didn't just create a genre of music. He repeatedly redefined it in new and exciting ways and gave birth to an entire way of life. We have Chuck to thank for not only Death's masterpieces but every single death metal masterpiece. His legacy is truly all-encompassing and his potential for still greater works is now in the souls of a whole army of death metal musicians. Thanks to Chuck, DM is now immortalised, and in death he has given it eternal life.
I am proud to wish him a happy afterlife. RIP, Chuck Schuldiner!
