Just wanted to let you guys know that I have a copy of the rough mixes of Shogun for reviewing purposes, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I kind of got bored of the band after The Crusade, but the in my opinion the music is the best they've written. Heafy's screams are sub-par, but besides that, you won't be disappointed.
If anyone wants anymore info, I'll be happy to answer the questions.
No one ask about a leak though, it's (obviously) watermarked.
Oh and if you think I'm lying, that's cool, but I promise that I am not.

Well the album totals about an hour and 6 minutes. The last song, which is also the title track, is 11 minutes and 17 seconds in length, and is all music. No silence like a lot of bands seem to do with a final track. It actually has a long acoustic passage which kind of reminds me of Opeth. Weird I know.
The shortest song is 4:09, which is I'm guessing "Insurrection." I say that I'm guessing because the tracklisting is screwed up - "Into the Mouth of Hell we March" was entitled "Insurrection" so I figured they just messed the side-by-side tracks up. It could possibly be another track though, if there was a huge screw up. The average song length is definitely in the late 4 minute mark or early 5 minute mark, with the title track it is probably high 5 minute.

No problem. Only issue with it is that it's the rough mixes so listening on headphones kind of sucks. I'm interested to hear the final mix.

I have a question... since English is not my primary language there's something I didn't understand... what do you mean when you say Heafy's screams are sub-par...?

It means they are below average.

I think "Insurrection" (if that's what it's really called...long story short it seems that some songs don't match up with the titles, I presume they did this on purpose to screw with people) is my favourite. The chorus is really catchy, and the bridge is one of the heaviest breakdowns I've heard in a long time, complete with guitar solos over top. There are some other really good songs though.

Does the melodic style of soloing from songs like Gunshot and Like Light To The Flies make a return, or is it just the technical shred style soloing that was on The Crusade?
