It takes more talent to make riffs in standard tuning than drop d.

Untrue. You could make some pissing tallented riffs in a dropped tuning man. You dont have to stick to power chords, okay they are easier. Dropped tunings are useful.

True, if they are used well. There are so many bands that can't play guitar well that use drop-tuning, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, BFMV come to mind. But there are a lot of bands that use that to an advantage, and use them well. Opeth definetly comes to mind.

Sepultura use the drop tunings very well. I use drop d a lot. I find it a good tuning to write in.

it shouldn't matter what way your guitar is tuned, a good player can play it no matter what, song writing isn't determined by the key to which the guitar is tuned

My favorite song right now I would have to say is Detonation.
It has such a strong message and the solo in it is awesome.
Even the breakdowns and rifts are so relaxing. Loveing it alot.

QUOTE(Ascender @ Nov 22 2006, 11:28 PM) I have lost respect for this album, for a couple reasons.
1. Unrepentant is a METALLICA song With Different words. Its all stolen. All they did was change words. (Its not original)
2. It sounds to 80'sish (Sounds good don't get me wrong but what happened to the old trivium from Ascendancy???)
3. Sound way to much like METALLICA
there are my reasons.
*Skull fucks in rage*
1. Unrepentant sounds NOTHING like Metallica
2. Whats wrong with 80's music? Its better then most stuff coming out in the 90's/00's!
3. This douchebag clearly only listens to Metallica if that was the only band they could think of when they heard The Crusade
Sorry for quoting such a old post/bumping such a topic but you know.. something to do!

its pretty much 2 yea\rs since this album was released
at the time I loved it, I definately felt it was ana amzing album and just the departure from ascendancy that I needed
now

I feel the same
this is stil a very fresh, original, and strong album
and as you listen to shogun do realise that musically, it aint that much different from this record !!!!!
I dare you, listen to them back to back, youll hear great similarities
this album does so much right and is still one of my favorites on the playlist

well, i do see where hes coming from with that comparison. the main riffs of both unrepentant and through the never sound strikingly similar. but yeah, the two songs sound nothing alike. pointless comparison.
