Just 10? This is going to be tough (knowing me, I'll put more then 10 XD)
1. When All Light Dies/A View of Burning Empires (Epic and brutal. Best thing Mr Heafy ever wrote)
2. Insurrection (THRASH ATTACK!)
3. He Who Spawned the Furies (I cant stop listening to this song, that breakdown/fast bridge is so fucking heavy. Its brutal!!!)
4. Shogun (Progressive Trivium, not a boring moment!)
5. The Crusade (I love it, pure riff-fest!)
6. Fugue: A Revelation (SACREDDDDD! One of the thrashiest ETI songs and so fucking killer)
7. Pillars of Serpents (Brutal and has one of the brutalest Trivium breakdowns)
8. Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr (That intro drum solo, that opening riff, that chorus.. Amazing song!)
9. Becoming the Dragon (a forecoming of Shogun? In a way yes.. and remember.... YOU'LL NEVER STOP THE BECOMING.. THIS DRAGON WILL RISE AND BE KING!)
10. Like Light to the Flies (A great example of Trivium's way of mixing heavy chunky verses with melodic epic choruses)
11. Demon (Death metal style old Trivium song. Imagine them doing it now with Matt's growls and some more speed to it? Brutal)
And because I cant stop myself right now... XD
12. Rain (kicks in with the thrash, great beginning to Ascendancy)
13. The Calamity (Catchiest song on Shogun I think)
14. Upon the Shores (I cried with happiness when I heard Matt doing gutturals haha Those growls mixed with the powerful clean vocals works amazingly)
15. Ember to Inferno (Catchy but really heavy. One of the reasons I like Trivium so much)
16. Falling to Grey (Killer intro. The riffs in this song truely slay)
17. Entrance of the Conflagration (Bay Area worship Trivium style. I like!)
18. To The Rats (Slayer/Kreator worship Trivium style. With Skull fucking! Nice!)
19. The Decieved (A song so good, my band ripped off it's melody haha Not on purpose though but yeah, I love the "religion is stupid" message the lyrics have)
20. Broken One (a more melodic song, not really that heavy but I think it's a great song from The Crusade times/Anthem single)
I couldnt help but do 20 ... 5 CDs to choose from, too many good songs. You cant expect me to pick just 10!!!
But WALD will always be the best. *nods*

Not really in any order...
Kirisute Gomen
Rain
Departure
The Storm
Becoming The Dragon
Declaration
Into The Mouth Of Hell We March
Sworn
Vengeance
Entrance Of The Conflagration
Poison, The Knife Of The Noose will probably replace Entrance on this list in about a week, I love that fucking song but I've only had it for a day so far!

PTKOTN is a proper thrash track! Gotta love it!
I feel bad I didnt include it on my list :X I'd rate it as high as Insurrection tbh.

It is a new "progressive" direction in my opinion for a song. Reminds me of how Opeth mix acoustics with melodeath parts.

it's quite complex in structure i guess but hardly progressive.

October 03, 2008 1:07:27 PM UTC Post #10

no, its progressive
its not run of the mill metal, thrash or anything
therefore its trying to become something new
and thats all progressive means
and indeed I think it is definately trivium's most progressive track

and one of their best
