QUOTE(The Prof)As far as I'm concerned re-releasing albums that are readily available with a few "bonuses" tacked on is wrong. Yeah no-one forces anyone to buy anything but it's a given that most metal fans are completists so many people have several copies of the same album - I have at least 2 copies of every Iron Maiden album released between 1980 and 1992... until I realised that I've paid full price twice for essentially the same thing plus one or two songs or a video that I could've taped off of Headbanger's Ball or something anyway!
Here's an idea, instead of the record company releasing another version of stuff that is piss easy to get in the shops anyway they put back out some of the stuff that's locked in the vaults that original versions go for stupid money on ebay for?! But then I suppose that wouldn't make nearly as much money in such a short time would it.
How I long for the days when the "special edition" versions of albums were released at the same time as the "normal" ones for those people who'd go out and get an album in it's first week of release and would try and hunt them down through various shops and mailing lists...
Ditto...except for special editions of albums being released the same time as normal versions for the first week of release only.
What I would do is just forget about normal & special versions and just put the album out that has every b-side with it along with the songs that made the final 12-song cut.
