QUOTE(Ironicph8)I read through this whole thread and have to agree with the change is good but still maintain what we love about Trivium... Unfortunately. Detonation is great but it almost seems like it is Metallica's new album rather than the next Trivium album. And Anthem bored me. I have not made it through the whole song yet. Looks like I may just have to listen to ETI and Ascendancy and pick a new band to listen to new stuff. Just my opinion though. I understand your thinking, but you have only heard 2 songs. I think maybe it would be good to wait to pass judgement until you hear the entire album. Imagine if you just heard Dying in Your Arms before Ascendancy was released and you based your judgement on what you thought the rest of the album would sound like off of that. It is completely different than any other song on the album. I don't know if I am explaining well, but I am confident you will like the album as a whole....there are some really heavy, technical songs that you haven't heard yet. So, maybe have a little faith and give it a chance. I know the band would appreciate it. Jamie

Agreed, I think it's about time people grew up and stopped with this "Waaa you are using agressive vocals without screaming, you must be ripping off Metallica!". Go and listen to some Metallica and then Detonation, similarities are rare at best.

When I played the Detonation to 10 people and 9 people ask if it is the new Metallica album... hrm... not rocket science. If you are sick about all the complaining then stop reading about it. Or just move on. Forums are for discussions and if you are not willing to discuss don't comment. I respect your opinion that they don't sound like Metallica so respect mine for thinking it does. @wozza - old trivium doesn't sound like them... the new does.

Yeah and I'm discussing the fact that people are wrong when they say it sounds like Metallica . It's not that I don't respect your opinion I just think it's wrong.

the singing on the new album, is just like the singing on ascendancy. which was rarely criticised as sounding just like hetfield. now it isn't just the predictable scream-sing-scream-sing.. so without the screaming, you're just hearing the clean vox more. it's the same voice he's always had. he didn't change his vocal style, he just dropped the second part of it, the screaming.. everyone seems to think ascendancy was an entirely screamed album.

Nooo... the clean singing in ascendancy was much more wussed up. This is more agressive, and much better.

well i prefer the old vocal style but meh im sure the album will sound great and theres nothing we can do but it still seems wrong to me that they had screaming for the first two albums and then they just stopped lol, it justs seems weird when the band said they didn't like screaming but they did it for those two albums. oh yeah if you scream properly you wont fuck your voice up, its just metalcore style of singing which hurts your voice, growling is alot easy on the throat
