Trivium Vocals

QUOTE(ashley_ann)the singing on the new album, is just like the singing on ascendancy. which was rarely criticised as sounding just like hetfield. now it isn't just the predictable scream-sing-scream-sing.. so without the screaming, you're just hearing the clean vox more. it's the same voice he's always had. he didn't change his vocal style, he just dropped the second part of it, the screaming.. everyone seems to think ascendancy was an entirely screamed album.
The clean vocals are much better now than they were then. I am glad that he did improve his voice as much as he has. Good for him... 8)

Haha, they sound like Metallica? here we go again, you must be fucking kidding me....what are your friends? Trivium haters? people with little knowledge of music? people who agree with you to look cool or to impress others? please, it might be your opinion but it certainly isn't true....Trivium are their own band and don't sound like anyone else but themselves, so just deal with it and stop making false accusations about how apparently they sound like Metallica...'OMFGZORS!!!11 TRVIUM SNOUND LIEK MITALIKA1!!1'.
Who gives a shit about your opinion? you obviously think it's right otherwise you wouldn't say 9 out of 10 people agreed with you...
And by the way just for the record, it's called 'Detonation' not 'The Detonation'
I doubt you have any constructive critisism towards The Crusade as how other people have said you've judged it on two songs..if you're aware Trivium did mention their album is strongly influenced by the 80's style but the songs are different styles, they're not just one specific style, so what do you say? how about you wait till you hear the album and then tell us what you think or you can continue complaining about how they're Metallica rip-offs and how you're going to cry in your bedroom and listen to their other CD's.
Sorry if this is a little too harsh but seriously, dammit if you don't have something relitavely positive to say then don't stuff your negative opinon down other peoples throats because we've already heard it about 100,000 times, literally.

hey,i have a suggestion for all of the people that say they don't like the new stuff:when the album comes out,go to Amazon to listen to the samples and base your decision to buy the album on that rather than how you didn't like a certain song.i didn't like a bit of what i heard of Anthem, but i didn't hear the whole thing because i clicked something, and it stopped playing.as i don't own the computer,i could only use it for 1 hour, and decided not to bother repeating the process, but i'm still going to buy it.

I have defended Trivium for a few years now to all my other friends and I don't go to them for their opinion. How is that everytime someone doesn't like a song they must be "haters" or they don't understand music? Just because someone doesn't agree with doesn't make them a hater it just makes them honest. Stop thinking everything Trivium touches is gold. They were a unique band for the two albums I heard. I loved them. I just don't want them to lose what made them stand out in the first place. Them being cocky doesn't help the situation out either. That is just them though and their last two albums were awesome!!! I will never judge a band by two songs... however I won't just listen to the songs and automatically say OMFG!!!1!!! Trivium rocks they are the best band in the fricken world and so forth like half the people here. I will buy the album and go from there... but until then I figured since we were talking about those two songs I would talk about those two songs... sorry I will next time put on my trivium shirt and kiss their asses and tell them how great it is so I don't offend anyone. If you are afraid of someone disagreeing with you then stay off the internet... don't just assume that someone doesn't have a good taste in music... just accept that some people are more honest about music and don't have to love everything that their favorite bands create.

Oh, look who's talking...you shouldn't be on the internet if you're going to register to a forum of a band you're going to bash...you basically are bashing them by saying they sound alot like Metallica as if they're completely copying them or something when that's totally not the case...obviously it is your opinion (duh) but you can't say 'they DO' sound like Metallica because that makes it sound like you think you're right when you are only voicing your opinion so in the future use 'IMO'.

So, exactly how are they being cocky ? Have you any examples ? Specific examples. Have you been there and witnessed the cockiness ?

Read an article about them. Them being cocky is also an opinionated statement... one that I see and also others I don't have an exact example nor do I care to get one... just do some research on the band through google and you can find some there. It is not a bad thing to be cocky... as long back it up. I think in the past they have had the talent to back it up but being cocky about your music just makes it even harder to impress the masses.

Yes I registered in July 2005 to bash songs that came out in the past few months. That makes complete sense. I love Trivium. I just don't like their new songs... IMO they are not their best IMO i hope that there are better songs on the album IMO the vocals and the overall sound reminds me of metallica IMO it is going to be an album that is going to divide their fans... change does that. IMO I should not have to put IMO due to the fact that is I am writing it and it is not in quotes it should be assumed as my opinion unless I say otherwise. But there you go...

I think if you are going to throw out such an inflammatory opinion on the bands own message board...you can expect people to question your opinion and ask for proof. Why ? Because I think people use the " cockiness " debate as a soundbite. They've heard it before, they repeat it, they vaguely remember why they believe it because after you have heard something so many times before you believe it to be truth. And, it's funny because it was started and perpetuated by Blabbermouth which is the mostly the sludge of metal society. ( Not All...but a lot of em )
Also, thanks for the advice, but I know pretty much all there is to know about them and I can concretely say they aren't cocky. Not in person and not in print. Ambitious, confident, but not
cock‧y1  /ˈkɒki/
–adjective, cock‧i‧er, cock‧i‧est.
arrogant ; conceited: He walked in with a cocky air.
