underrated/hated albums

well I've come up with , what seems to me, to be an awesome idea
we all know about severely hated or underrated albums, which we feel should be held of in a much higher opinion/ should just not garner so much negativity from people!!!
Im gonna start off by naming 2 albums Ive been listening to today, and 2 which I really really enjoy
1st is Load, an awesomely cool chilled listen, the harder rocking songs on here could even be left out as the chilled shit, bleeding me, mama said, hero of the day, outlaw tornm is hjust stunning!
2nd is good apollo IM burning star iv by coheed and cambria. Often get a load of stick as theyre seen to be emo, but i think these guys are brilliant. a great story line, good zeppelin meets rush music, and some great acoustic passages to boot. love it

Iron Maiden's The X Factor and Virtual XI. There's a lot of great songs on both (The Aftermath, Edge Of Darkness, Lightning Strikes Twice, The Clansman etc) and I feel they're actually stronger albums than the last 2 that Bruce did before leaving - and I prefer both to A Matter Of Life And Death too
Fair enough Blaze struggled with some of the older songs live (I always though Steve should have let him do more Di'anno era material as his voice suited them down to the ground) but both those albums are a lot stronger than some would have you believe.
And while I'm on the subject of Blaze (whose own solo albums are all excellent too), his wife/manager died this week after a pretty lengthy illness so R.I.P. Debbie and best wishes to Blaze who truly is one of the nicest guys in metal.

Jeff Waters may have done the album as a solo project and used a drum machine, but the album really wasn't as bad as some made it out to be...
I agree! I rather enjoy listening to that album.

Load- some immense tracks but a lot of filler
divine intervention- some of slayer's darkest work. much better than GHUL and CI
cryptic writings- while being different to earlier albums, it's a fuckload better than mustaine's latest input (his last four albums).

cryptic writings eh, ive only listened to it once, maybe twice
problem is i bought it after my cd player broke, and so listening to it on computer has really meant that anything not stand out about it hasnt stood out
i may slip it in my new player and check it out

St. Anger for me. That album felt so real compared to Load/Reload/Black Album. It also had some really good grooves and riffs especially in songs like Purify, Sweet Amber, and My World. To me it had lots of good songs, it's just that the songs that were bad, were unforgivably bad i.e SKOM.
And I'll agree with Divine Intervention. It seems that the production really killed the buzz for that album. Such rocking tracks like 213, Serenity In Murder, Divine Intervention, and Killing Fields among others.
The World Needs A Hero is another that comes to mind. I loved Return To Hanger, maybe even as much as Hanger 18, Promises is a beautiful song, and it also includes some heavy songs like Disconnect and Recipe for Hate...Warhorse. And everyone seems to love When for some reason
Nostradamus is another album that suffers from bad production, but when Judas Priest can get in their groove, they produce some really awesome shit i.e. Nostradamus, Revelations, Pestilence and Plague, Visions. Also has it's fair share of filler though.

lol, it's "Divine Intervention" mate.

why yes, yes it is

Divine Intervention has Sex. Murder. Art and Dittohead on it - forgetting those songs is criminal
I also think Diabolus in Musica is underrated. I don't see why Kerry King hates it so much - its better than GHUA. Maybe I'm not thinking about it porperly as I haven't listened to the whole thing since, well, since the couple of times after got it (), but Perversions of Pain is one of Slayer's best songs in my eyes.

3 things:
Six Feet Under (everything after Haunted/Warpath) - Chris Barnes growl does sound strained a lot lately but at least he still growls and the riffs do sound a lil simple but it's groove, they are meant to.
Deicide (latter albums apart from Stench of Redemption) - Till Death was awesome, had a old skool feel to it with the riffs I feel. I think it's just that Deicide have "teased' people with the potential shown on Legion/Stench of Redemption so they want that more technically accomplished Deicide. Sure the Hoffman brothers werent the best guitarists but they could at least do heavy riffs!
New Cryptopsy - Not all "deathcore" is bad. I can see why it pissed a lot of people off. Because I think people expected Cryptopsy to go in a more progressive direction like some of their tech-death peers do. But I think in Cryptopsy's defence, they tried to be different but ended up sounding like a lot of bands today It's still a death metal album, just not the one people expected/wanted Cryptopsy to make
Generally hated albums, (or band in SFU's case) but I like them!!! Better then most sceneXcore bands!
