They aren't really that important....
I used to have one on my old guitar and hardly ever used it at all...
and now that i have a new guitar, I don't miss it one bit.

Vibrato bars ftw. I've heard some interesting things done with them outside of Bodom and Pantera. Particularly in Megadeth and Opeth.

so wamy bars are good?

they are double edged sword, especially the locking ones. on one hand, they are immense fun and you can create some superb expression effects aswell as mad noises. on the other hand, they are a pain in the ass to setup and maintain, so you have to decide how commited you are to doing the work to keep it perfectly in tune.

bars sound sick if you know how to use em properly, IMO. theres nothing worse than having a whammy and trying to use it in all the wrong spots of a song it just sounds like hot garbage....but they still fuckin kill i wish i had one lol

UNless it was like the first two albums, Megadeth never used them. Maybe Poland did, but marty and dave almost exclusively played fixed bridge (Marty anyways).
For good whammy use, the obvious suspect is Steve Vai. But for intuitive whammy use, look to Shawn Lane (RIP), and Mattias IA Eklundh.
