Just got back from Slayer, was an awesome show. Mastadon opened for them, but im not really a fan - theyre songs sounded way to similar, guys voices were shittin me off and i really dont get the hype around them.
Slayer - however, fuckin killed it. The setlist covered basically their whole career, mixing in old and new numbers. Overall, a great show.
Next show up:-
Nile & Decapitated !!!!

Saw Trivium last night. Was a bit bored.

The last three weekends, I've been to gigs.
31 March was headlined by Dreamscapes of the Perverse, supported by Here Lies and Triage. Dreamscapes and Here Lies would probably appeal more to people into Gothenburg-type stuff (which I don't care for, but it was something to do, anyhow), and Triage are a female fronted band which leans a bit more towards Power Metal (though they really don't go all-out).
7 Apr was supposed to be headlined by Deceased, but they canceled their fucking appearance. It was a really difficult set for me to get into, with the majority of the lineup being Demon Burger wannabes, Arch Enemy wannabes, or Children of Bodom wannabes. However, there was a good merchandise display set up, and I managed to pick up some very cool CDs, including albums from Savage, Blade Runner, Praying Mantis, and others.
This past weekend, it was the Doom Or Be Doom Festival at the Sidebar Tavern in Baltimore. 150 people, packed like fucking sardines in some little basement venue, yet, people still came from as far as Canada, Brazil, England, Germany, and Romania to attend this event. Some of the bands in the lineup were Argus, Orodruin, Against Nature, Revelation, Penance, Apostle of Solitude, Unorthodox, Valkyrie, Earthride, Asylum, Pale Divine, and Zebulon Pike.
On 5 May, I'll be going to the Spring Metal Showcase at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh. Among that lineup will be Twisted Tower Dire (Epic Metal, particularly of appeal to fans of Iron Maiden, Ritual Steel, etc), Up the Irons (Iron Maiden tribute band), Praetorious (Gothenburg wannabes), ShadowRealm (more Gothenburg wannabes, IIRC), and others I don't really care for.
10 June, I may or not see Doro at Jaxx. It's all dependent, because I can only take so many days off in a year, and it'll be about a five hour drive back home for me. Doro plays on Sunday night, and the venue will probably close around 2AM, meaning I'd get home around 7AM, etc..
In August, Centurions Ghost come to the US, to tour with The Gates of Slumber, Earthride, Orodruin, and others. There's a tentative date for a show in Raleigh on the 22nd, and a confirmed date for Indianapolis on the 25th. I intend to be at both sets.

QUOTE(Creeping dan @ Apr 20 2007, 07:34 AM) Hehe tickets are £8 and the venue hold like 150 people i think. Its quite local but i dunno how ill get home at that time of night, plus no one wants to go with me
Who gives a shit!! Go on your own!! Never EVER miss out on going to a concert just cos you can't find someone to go with. I missed out on seeing Judas Priest and Motley Crue in 2005 cos no-one would go with me and I'm buggered if the same thing will happen again!!! I've been to many shows on my own and it's actually alot better - no-one to have to wait on or drag away from the bar, no-one to lose in the crowd, no-one to have to try and get up front with you and you can leave when you want after. I actually prefer going to shows on my own!!!
