My thoughts exactly. Him and Penelo are pretty useless. At least they try and make Fran and Balthier seem part of it. They're the best characters, by the way. Balthier has some brilliant lines. Vossler was decent as well, while he lasted.

QUOTE(Ripper @ Apr 11 2007, 03:35 PM) The battle system is in fact no different to virtually all earlier FFs, with the exception of using ranged weapons. It wasn't real time at all, but it did well to scare off all the turn-base dependent freaks. I wouldn't complain at all if they kept it the same for XIII and beyond. Fantastic game.
I agree. I really like the battle system, it makes the game flow whereas constantly having to wait while a battle screen loaded almost broke up the gamplay for people who were looking for a quick fire game.
Although I must say, I feel that it has the worst characters I have ever seen in a Final Fantasy game. They're all really predictable and there never seems to be any major interaction between them.
I'm only half way through the game, but I'm starting to wonder why you control Vaan, when most FF games have you controlling the main protagonist of the story. He doesn't seem to have a huge role at the moment.

Some apparant GTA IV facts:

The lead character is called Niko Bellic, an Eastern European who comes to the US searching for the good old American Dream.
Niko's cousin Roman will provide the incentive for your early missions - he's lied to Niko about having a perfect life in Liberty City, when actually he's massively in debt and in trouble with vicious thugs.
Roman's dingy taxi firm is your initial base of operations, but you'll be able to live a far more flexible life and carve out your own path in ways we've not seen in previous GTA's.
Liberty City will change fundamentally when the sun goes down - with different pedestrians, and more dangers, appearing on the streets.
Four of New York's boroughs are fully replicated - Queens is 'Dukes'; The Bronx is 'Bohan'; Brooklyn is 'Broker'; Manhattan is 'Algonquin'. Part of New Jersey is included as 'Alderney'.
There's nothing outside of Liberty City, with no empty countryside or desert areas. Rockstar instead are focusing on ramming every inch of the city with believable, dynamic life.
Pedestrians are aware of their surroundings, and you'll see lots of different faces doing lots of different things: smoking, sitting, talking on the phone...
Physics plays a huge part, with Niko's movements affected by the world around him - his walk, for instance, is influenced by the slope of the pavement, or any rubble on the ground.
Rockstar big cheese Dan Houser says: "The world is not designed to be a video game. We are trying to make a video game that feels like the world, but still plays like a video game".

I think the wii is something that will just take a while to come to full fruition.
My guess is they are still trying to test its limits with the wiimotes and nunchuk.

Well at least thats what i'm hoping. If it doesn't pick up by the end of the year i will probably sell it and get a 360

I've lost interest in the Wii so i'll be buying a Ps3 once the price goes down.

Twelves battle system was poor, the game was almost as bad as IX, as for MGS, well, *points thumbs at himself with a satisfyed expressions*.
Im re-playing FFVII, but the paintcan shaped hands are really starting to annoy me, and the gold chocobo is taking to damn long to make.

I spent months hoping they'd do X-3.

I wish they actually were going to remake VII. As much as I love the PSone version, the graphics are poo, and it needs to be beautiful.

After XII, they've left me thirsting for more.
