What song is this by Trivium?

I'm a pretty hardcore fan like most of you, but I can't seem to tell what song this is.
For all of you who pre-ordered the Shogun CD like I did, and also ordered the special edition one, you got a DVD with the making of Shogun.
I was watching this again tonight and was actually paying attention to the background music this time.
Roughly 36 minutes into the DVD, there's a song being playing in the background as Travis is setting up his drums. What song is this?!
I'm thinking it's one of the demoed songs that they didn't release or something. But the quality of the song that's being played in the background sounds a bit too good to be a mere demo.
Does anyone know? Thanks.

There's a possibility it may not have been a Trivium song (I don't have the DVD so I can't have a proper look myself)

Yeah i think it is one of the unreleased songs. I think it's the same song that plays over parts of the 'Making of Shogun' videos that were shown on youtube before the album was released as well.

The song is definitely a Trivium song. It's without a doubt Matt's screaming.
I don't think it'll even be leaked. It'd be nice if one of the guys from Trivium could actually answer this! But of course that's not likely to happen.

If it's definitely Matt screaming have you checked out Capharnaum?

November 16, 2008 9:23:07 AM UTC Post #6

Yes I have. Capharnaum is a technical death metal band; but the song being played doesn't sound technical at all. The band released their latest album in 2004, so it was Matt's Ascendancy scream. Which is very different from his Shogun screaming.

Is there no chance you could upload the section of the DVD you're talking about so we can hear what you mean?
His Capharnaum vocals could be quite different to his Ascendancy vocals at times.

I dont think they used to fit on the Fractured album. Jason has a better voice for death metal. But now matt seems to have good smooth low shit going on too.

Yeah I used to think that too, but I just listened to it now and now I don't know. His voice is a kind of refreshing change almost - he's not trying to do stereotypical dm vocals, he's pretty much just using his own voice, and that makes it stand out. Fair enough if you don't like that, but I'm kind of liking it at the moment. (though I've got to say I do like the fact that Jason does some of the vocals on the album. Matt's could get a little too much after a while )
But yeah, his vocals now will fit a whole lot better - give us a new Capharnaum album please!
