The Crusade definately, but This World Can't Tear Us Apart is pretty technical.

How the...?
Metalcore is a derivative of thrash and hardcore, yet you don't like thrash.
Tell the truth, is it just because you don't get to hear your beloved Heafy scream a
Just give some reasons, I'm curious.
He likes metalcore, which is a seperate sub-genre from Thrash, they are not alike in any way really, except from the speed. It's like saying i like a pop-punk band and hate pop, then someone saying "So i take it you like pop-punk but DON'T like pop. AMAZING! Pop punk is a derivative of pop and punk. ZOMG YOU'VE BEEN PWND! YU DNT NO WHT UR TALKIN AB0UT!"
And The Crusade is NOT thrash metal, go and listen to some real thrash metal bands and then listen to Trivium, you'll notice a big, big difference.

Just call 'em metal then.
List me these true "thrash metal" bands then (and please don't include Slayer)
I can see considering the "whole" album as just "metal" (just as Heafy said, "The Rising" is not a thrash metal song, but it still sounds like Trivium), but songs like Ignition can be called thrash.

Slayer and Megadeth are pretty much the only true Thrash ones that spring straight to my mind.

Calling Megadeth thrash, and not mentioning Metallica is blasphemy.
Megadeth weren't really any thrashier than Metallica in the 80's (they are now, but that's a different story)
I know Metallica released 2 Alt. Rock albums (Load and ReLoad) but Megadeth released Risk.
Slayer is the only band that is playing the EXACT same stuff they did in '83.

P.S. I like Load and ReLoad a lot.

Dude, I like every Metallica album, including St Anger, but not one of them IMO are Thrash. Megdath, well Rust in Peice and Couuntdown to Extintion..

Mentioning Countown To Extinction as a thrash record truly shows the lack of knowledge you have on Thrash Metal. Countdown is no where near thrash, it's like saying the Black Album is thrash metal. Metallica haven't realeased thrash records? Then tell me whats Kill Em All? Pop? Death Metal? Just Metal? Kill Em All is what revolutionalized Thrash.
Testement
Exodus
Sepultura
Epidemic
Evile
Nuclear Assault
Bathory
Kreator
Dark Angel
There's some real Thrash bands. Now tell me Trivium sound like a Thrash Metal band.

Master of Puppets is pure thrash man. Kill em All is too. Oh and so is Ride The Lightening. Fight Fire With Fire probably stands out more as thrash, with Trapped Under Ice id say.
But Metallicas first three albums are thrash (plus some AJFA). Just listen to the riffs and the drumming.
If those albums arent thrash, i dont know what they are.
Oh and Countdown To Extinction isnt thrash, but its bloody good.

Why do people call Metallica thrash and say Trivium sounds exactly like them, yet they don't classify Trivium as thrash.

December 09, 2007 2:11:55 PM UTC Post #50

I think people have the problem with the fact that Trivium try to act and sound like the big Metallica. You know, Black Album era. Especially with the vocals, and the generic metallica copycat riffs.
